Re: SR-72 is a thing!!!

Correct me if im wrong but satellites have the advantage of not being in enemy air space, while spy planes are which gives them the right to shoot it down. And there is open skies treaty i just see Sr-72 a costly investment for little niches for a few years But you know when a satellite is going to...

Re: World news thread

By the way why do they send a B1? Is this just some routine flight to keep the pilots trained? It's an intimidating aircraft and the ability to carry 24 JASSM ER is very unpleasant for anyone on the receiving end. It can also out run anything the Norks put up. Also Wouldn't be surprised if they had...

Re: SR-72 is a thing!!!

You think launching a satellite is cheaper than a plane? You're not the sharpest hammer in the lightbulb factory, are you. Do you have any idea how much it costs to move a satellite in orbit especially for a one time target, then you have to move it to its previous position and once it's out of fue...

Re: World news thread

The lack of a long range missile like the Meteor does put the U.S. at a bit of a disadvantage when trying to engage targets staying inside the envelope of supporting SAM's this could really be an issue against a well equipped opponent like russia. It's not hard to imagine SU35s with jamming support...

Re: SR-72 is a thing!!!

In what way? The ability to have a recon flight on demand is very useful satellites take time to move into position after all Satellites are still cheaper, more reliable and have a longer staying power, not to mention have a much smaller overall logistical cost over a hypersonic plane (Seriously, t...

Re: World news thread

I would expect the B1b's to turn out to sea and see if the Migs follow, if they do the bones will try to run them out of fuel or let the escorts see them off. An early mig 29 is going to be mince meat against any U.S. fighter if it doesn't have heavy SAM and ECM support. If they get in the merge th...

Re: World news thread

The most dangerous scenario would be if they sent up some MiG-29s to intercept and also used their S-200 sites. The defenders would be limited in options because directly trying to engage the MiG-29s could bring them over the kill zone of the S-200 and make defending against the MiGs that much hard...

Re: Games I am officially EXCITED about.

I just played some stellaris after getting the Leviathans DLC with a friend. We formed a federation and we are backed into a corner by an empire that owns a quarter of the galaxy on one side and an awakened empire on the other. The Scourge comes in next to some newly conquered areas to our north th...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-41532309 This is annoying Trump seems really intent on screwing his closest allies. Also heard rafale has pulled out of the Belgian fighter competition but they have offered an industrial deal instead. http://www.defense-aerospace.com/articles-view/relea...
