Re: Steel Division sales...

What is your problem if unittype A only gets countered by either unittype A or mix of unittype A+B(assuming it is priced in a way that is balanced)? There are very few AA-units which are not multiroles I consider worth bringing. I think a lot of AA units need buffs, especially towed ones, but I do ...

Re: Games I am officially EXCITED about.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3200767/gaming/xbox-one-x-pc-build.html of course you trade off utility, productivity, modding, etc for benefits of closed hardware baseline (=longer legs for devs) and more cost efficiency, but interesting that MS managed to pack this into a box. it might even be bet...

Re: Games I am officially EXCITED about.

A bit old news, but ARMA3 is getting a new co-op mode with plans of releasing the source code for the mode as open source (don't think they've certified the license though?): https://dev.arma3.com/post/oprep-combat-patrol Interesting. And something familiar taking into account it's 4 years into the ...

Re: Games I am officially EXCITED about.

The Arma 3 devs tried the same thing by releasing a bland/bare bones game with the expectation the modders would bring content pretty much killed the game for me. Arma 3 just seems like a project kept on support with mods like Altis life, nickel and dime dlcs which are vehicle and weapon packs, and...

Re: Steel Division sales...

Looking at the graphs, SDN44 is doing better than AoA and similar to WarGame. I agree it's tough booting a new franchise (EE was small too) and the WW2 setting doesn't fully appeal to WG players because it's done to death etc. I would expect SDN44 to sell 400 000 copies which still means it's a soli...

Re: The obligatory "will there be a Linux version?" thread

Any further news from running the game on Wine? Apparently the state of Linux gaming has improved in recent years, so with lots of titles available, SD might be one of the last reasons to still keep that Windows 7/10 around on your machine. Took a look at some desktop/laptop OS statistics and it loo...

Re: Games I am officially EXCITED about.

Anybody care to show me the ropes in ARMA 3... or want a wild ride in my helicopter? Are the DLC in A3 basically just some "nice to have" add-ons, don't sound like they add anything critical, but are of interest if you say fetishize MGs or helicopters? With probably the exception of the ne...

Re: the word optimization

One could speculate that when game engines are developed with new features added 1) they become heavier and require more up to date hardware 2) some old things might break and new ones obviously are not yet fully optimized/stabilized. It's possible they had a larger budget for engine development tha...
