Also, if you zoom on inf on the bridge same guy is carrying AT/MG so we can assume that inf mechanic will stay the same as in WG ? :( Not happy if that's true.

Most likely. It's just amazing to me how they got the terrain around Pegasus Bridge wrong, it's not as though it's an under-studied aspect of the campaign  .

  • Horsas incorrectly spaced and angled.
  • Horsas on the wrong side of the canal and bridge. (Bridge opens the other way, no Orne river visible in the background)
  • Horsas not in an area of boggy low ground, possibly forgivable since they're in the wrong place.
  • The bridge looks weird, I think the roadway is too wide. I'll give them that one though, it's probably a pathfinding thing.
  • No Cafe Gondree, the first building in France to be liberated and today... still a functioning Cafe run by a woman who remembers the Ox and Bucks coming in the door.
  • The wing of a fourth Horsa protruding into shot on the right.

There's a picture of the gliders on the ground. Note that in the full scale one the other three Horsas are miles away from Pegasus Bridge.

Here's the google maps result for it, note that the Cafe Gondree is still there. There's also a visible Horsa glider (a reproduction) and you can see the path and the markers where the gliders landed to the South of the bridge. Streetview shows the elevation change nicely.

There's the 3 hour drive from the Eugen offices to the bridge and the excellent visitor centre, which is not a totally unreasonable day trip like the Kanmon Straits might have been .

I'm sorry Devs, you guys do a good job most of the time but when you claim that the game is going to be built around actual photographs of Normandy from the period and everything's going to be as realistic as you can possibly make it, then you present something that's recognisable enough for me to know it looks wrong in your initial promo shots, you've got to expect someone to pick you up on it. I understand that terrain gets changed for balance reasons and that if you kept the block system the Cafe Gondree would be too small to function correctly or whyever you've done things the way you've done them. Just don't talk up the realism while you do it.

The real terrain likely makes for problems in making a balanced map, guessing as the river will be the dividing line I'm guessing the preponderance of woods and other IRL terrain features on a given side would provide a considerable advantage to one team over the other.

To be perfectly honest the entire area is terrible for a Wargame map because there's a river running parallel to the canal 500m away and there are no other ways of crossing the river or the canal between Caen and the canal locks in Ouistreham (Which was the point of the whole operation really). It rather has to be in for the scenarios, which do not have to be balanced, but personally I'd put it all on a side map edge and centre the actual multiplayer map, which has to be balanced, around Ranville, where I'm much more okay with messing around with the terrain because it's not got the same level of fame.

yep, I think you lack of professional expertise... stuff like this is not about money, its about playerbase, marketing and stuff like this.
do you even know what kind of games focus is selling apart from wargame?

I think this "team up" is one of the better parts of this new project

grand strategy campaign maybe will sneak in if Paradox developers contribute.

This. Campaign has been an oft enjoyed and much discussed feature of Wargame that people have desired to be expanded and refined since EE. With Paradox on board the hope is there will be fewer "lost campaigns" type gripes and a far more diverse/immersive campaign experience.

The hope is that they'd even be moddable so that a fan could do something like SD Shanghai '36 or the Malayan Campaign once suitable divisional DLCs/maps are out.

Axis and Allies style online campaign would be pretty cool. Move divisions around the globe and send them to variance territories and provinces.

Well, next Eugen title will be WW2 Steel Division, but personally I prefer to push timeframe into 1995-2015 like, let's say "Wargame 4 - New Cold War rises" :D with all this shiny F-22 and S-300s. Unfortunately, WW2 setting does not not allow many things and cuts engine abilities.

Sticky granted to thread.

With "WarGame 4 should be like..." threads popping up every other day, it makes sense to collect all (well, the good ones) into one place. Post below if any major ones are missing!
