I think that realism should be more important as gameplay, at least unit stat wise. Unit selection from the pool of viable choices and availibility etc are what should balance the game, but I (and I assume many others, but I don't want to sound presumptuous) play the game for its realism. The tanks may function gameplay-wise, but if they deserve different stats (for better or for worse) due to realism, I think they should get them, and be balanced around them.
The only (probably) sane player to take a card of Akulas voluntarily..... UNTIL RED DRAGON!

I don't disagree here (unless it would result in units getting stupid stats like 24 armour) considering you can balance most stuff with price and availability.
I am not saying they don't deserve buffs. I am saying that at the moment they are not garbage. :)

In all seriousness I think you're right, there are definitely three tank cards that are good (the three top end ones) and there's also the AMX-10 RC SB, which doesn't really do a tank's job but gives you really interesting possibilities with the speed. It's just the sheer terror that balance for balance's sake inspires in me compelled me to post.

No one uses them in ranked as they're not cost or card efficient and abuse implies that they're useful...

Just pointing out that according to you, anything's a clown game where you have the money to buy 2 tomcats and not lose the game on the ground instantly. Which you admit yourself is nonsense when put like that.

In 4v4 games they are very much cost and card efficient.
