Im new to this forum, have read the posts and I agree with Eugene, it sounds awesome the work that you guys have done, I have even downloaded a mod to see how it works, but the fact is that there are scrupulous people who don't want to learn the mechanics of the game, they just want to win at all cost, that is cheating, Some players like yourselves are just good at the game and others need to cheat, I have watched some of my replays and have seen some pretty interesting stuff, ATGM shoot halfway across the board and pick a hidden unit in the middle of bush, how can you prevent this kind of stuff from happening, because the multi is full of these players and its ruining the game

No, that is very unlikely. If one person modified a unit in their game files, it would have caused desync and you would not be able to see the cheating.

Then what about this though?

From what I have heard, that kind of "modding" is really different. You see, your computer downloads and computes every command a player gives to a unit, whether it's your team or the enemies'. However, to make sure that the computer does not display units that you should not see, Eugen hard-coded commands in a file outside of the NDF_Win.dat (I think .exe or .dll probably) to not show units you are not able to see. Some "hackers" were able to change, disable or delete this code, and it is most likely that they did not use the modding suite.

Some things are moddable without affecting multiplayer gameplay: Localization (text, images, videos, textures, models), Lobby information (map availability, Deployment point and victory condition settings), and menu format are some. But most things involving units are not moddable without causing desync: Decks, unit stats and weapons, income, maps, etc.

If all people in the game have the same mod, there will not be desync.

I have a question about the desync and the validation process, When the game files are validated does it just validate the size of the files to be sure that the file size is equal to the files in the original game. It would work on the same principle as a "recursive search", used by many malware programs, and anti-spyware. If this is how the files are validated then it would be easy enough for an individual to replace the original files with there own and beat the validation process by having the equal amount of kb, mb ec in a file as everyone else in the game, then the game would not dump, it would play out as normal with the cheater having a clear advantage over the board.
