Soviet Skins Supreme

Postby BTR » Sat 8 Feb 2014 22:52

I suppose I should make this formal, I am "developing" a texture pack for the Soviets, to make sure they look like they deserve - uniform and organised. I've been working on this for the past month or so, and originally this started as a texture supplement for the WG: 1984 mod so shoutout to that ;) . Please note that all of this is unreleased because I can't upload several 2gb files, and handing them out as "separate textures" is just too much of a hassle.

Now, here is what I have so far:

Can't add anything to the models yet unfortunately. Sure, I can paint era on the tanks, but the geometry still won't be there.

What's with the white cross on some of the tanks and support platforms?

Plane identification markings, so they don't get lit up by their own CAS.

Just as Graphic said, before the late 70's it was relatively widespread to color ground vehicles for maneuvers to avoid friendly fire. I wanted to give the paint-jobs a bit more variety whenever I could, just to prove to Eugen that you don't need to have a rainbow of colors to make the units distinguishable and interesting.

Its also an homage to this:
