Server side management of bans

Postby Grosnours » Mon 17 Feb 2014 09:54

I encountered someone with quite a foul mindset yesterday, so I'd like to perma-ban him from all my servers. Of course I can always do so by connecting in-game to them go in the lobby and then type /ban user_ID absurdely_long_period_of_time, but is there any way to create such a list server-side for easier management ?

What bugs me is that I have the feeling I saw how to do that already and can't seem to find it again.
Thanks !

i´m not sure, if i got you right...

bans are stored in "banned_clients.ini"
user-id=bantime

bantime = 0 bans forever

you can:

1.) edit banned_clients.ini directly with a texteditor.
upon next serverstart, the added bans will be performed

2.) ban via ingame-chat
you need to have the game launched and know the user-id
or you can just ban the username... which is just half as useful

3.) you can use a RCON client
it´s a terminal window, which connects to the server
HERE you can display all connected user´s IDs and names and also kick, ban, ...
no need to have the game launched

is this, what you are looking for?
