The BGManager requires the NDF_Win associated with the latest game version and a ZZ_Win containing all the localizations for battlegroups (battlegroup.dic). I'll make it simple (it's not exactly intuitive)

NDF_Win : ...\Wargame Red Dragon\Data\WARGAME\PC\510064564
ZZ_Win : ...\Wargame Red Dragon\Data\WARGAME\PC\430000587\430000609

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Being that this ZZ_Win is from an older version of the game, it will be missing some content. You can use The W:AB Noob's file or correct it yourself. Here is the process in case you're interested.

1. Open the latest ZZ_Win using the Modding Suite (510061340\510064564)
2. Select the "unites.dic" associated with your language
3. Hit the "Raw Data" icon on the top left and "Extract"
4. Open the ZZ_Win associated with the BGManager (430000587\430000609)
5. Select the "unites.dic" and use "Replace" under "Raw Data"

I'm sorry but when I put the ZZ and NDF you mentioned it still had the same error. Here's a picture of my configure. I think I'll try to fix this issue first before worrying about the other steps to add newer units. I also don't have the modding suite right now either. Thank you for putting up with me so far.

Sorry, it's actually partly my fault for providing an "incomplete" path. You must have copied and pasted my paths directly instead of pointing to the files.

Put this in exactly

NDF_Win : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wargame Red Dragon\Data\WARGAME\PC\510064564\NDF_Win.dat
ZZ_Win : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wargame Red Dragon\Data\WARGAME\PC\430000587\430000609\ZZ_Win.dat

Always happy to help! Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

Are you attempting to make changes in the Modding Suite and BGManager at the same time? This is the only time I've seen this crash. You can have both open at the same time, but never try to make changes in both while they are looking at the same file.

I don't have the modding suite downloaded. Is it necessary?

As far as I'm aware, yes, you need the Modding Suite alongside the BGManager. Here is the latest copy of the BGManager (0.8.2 Beta).
Keep all the assets in this file together in its own folder and use the most recent Modding Suite (0.9.0) on its own.

I think the BG Manager comes with the modding suite already with it, although it's an old version.

I don't know about you guys, but I think I've been seeing more bugs in 0.9.0 than in 0.8.6.

I also messed with some files when I downloaded some other campaign mods and may have incorrectly placed them. Could that be an issue? And do I have to use the modding suite?

It depends on the file. You might want to check your game cache with Steam though. You can probably get pretty far with only BGM right now. The download includes the modding suite but that is a very old version.
