Decks for countries not in Wargame: Red Dragon

Postby Graphic » Sun 11 May 2014 04:24

A sequel to Commissar Fuklaw's thread from AirLand Battle: viewtopic.php?f=93&t=28193

I'll start it off with

Royal Saudi Land and Air Forces
Image

One of the quirks is that air mobility in the Saudi army doesn't seem to be a thing, leading to a very tiny inventory of transport helicopters. So I'm afraid it's command squads and recon only.

LOG
TACOM in UH-60 Blackhawk or Humvee
    Groupe de Cmdt in Puma
    Command M60A1
    M577 CPC
    Fuchs Fufu
    Command Humvee
    Puma Logistique
Any supply truck (they're just trucks, no sense sperging about their skin/model)
    FOB

INF
Saudi gear: M16, G3, MG3, Carl Gustav, M47 Dragon, Panzerfaust 3 (unfortunately impossible due to prototype)
Saudi transports: M2 Bradley series, AMX-10P, M113

    MAW/Deckungsgruppe/MRAAW in M113
    Jager in M113
    Riflemen in M2 Bradley (any)
    Light Riflemen in Humvee
    Stormere or Livgarden in M113
Commandos 90 in M113 or ASLAV (LAV III stand-in)
Canadian Airborne 85 in Bison (LAV III)
RBS 56 Bill (stand-in for Bill 2) in TGB m/42

    Comments:
    Spoiler : :
Unfortunately it's hard to get a squad that's legit in all their kit + transport.

The Jager's AT weapon is wrong, but the G3, MG3, and transport are right.

The M72 LAW, AT4 and M60 from Riflemen and the M240 from Light Riflemen are inauthentic but the Saudis have 400 M2 Bradleys and a ton of Humvees and that should be represented.

Stormere in NM113 are legit from head to toe, though; unfortunately the Panzerfaust 3 is a prototype, otherwise Panzergrenadiere 90s would work.

Commandos 90 work if you accept the Minimi as a substitute for the l.MG3.

Canadian Airborne 85 are OK if you really need that LAV III.

There's no way around the RBS 56's transport, just pretend it's a modern armored Humvee.

I haven't found any information on Saudi MANPADS.

SUPPORT

    M106A2 mortar
    M109A2
    M163 VADS/PIVADS
    AML 60
    Hawk (any)

TANK
M1A1(HA) (stand-in for M1A2, tbh HA's stats are probably representative of an M1A2 export downgrade anyway)
    M60A1 USMC
    M60A1 AOS
    M60A1 RISE
    M60A3
    AMX-30

RECON

    AML 90
    Humvees
    V-150 series
    Bell 206 or CH-163 (stand-in for Bell 412)
    Kiowa series
    Rangers in UH-60

VEHICLE

    V-150 series
    All TOW ITVs
    TOW-2 Humvee
AMX-10 HOT (leap of faith - they operate both AMX-10P and HOT, don't know if they've combined them)

HELICOPTER

AH-64A Apache (pretend it's a D without the Longbow radar)
    That's it!

PLANES
    F-15D (Strike Eagle)
    F-15C Eagle
    Tornado IDS
    Tornado GR.1
    Tornado F.2 & F.3
F-5 Freedom Fighter (take your pick)

Here's my deck with the import code:

Israel Defense Force (sans Merkava)

Image

Joe Friday: Ah, sure, but just like every other foaming, rabid psycho in this city with a foolproof plan,
you've forgotten you're facing the single finest fighting force ever assembled.
Reverend Jonathan Whirley: The Israelis?

Really great deck, as long as you really like Pattons.

LOG

    Humvee
    Jeep
    M577 CPC
    TACOM in Humvee, UH-1H, UH-60
    CMD M60A1
    CH-53
    HEMTT

INF
Note: the only squads in the game with the M240 are Light Riflemen 75/90 and Rangers, so you'll have to suffer the M60 for most.

Riflemen and Riflemen 90 in Humvees, M113A1/A3, UH-1H, UH-60 (AT4 on Riflemen 90 stands in for MATADOR)
Light Riflemen in Humvees and UH-60
    LAAD Redeye in Humvees, M113A1/A3, UH-1H, UH-60
    Stinger A/C in Humvees, M113A1/A3, UH-1H, UH-60
RBS 56 in TGB m/42 or HKP 3C (stand-in for Spike)
Haebyung and Delta Force in Humvee or UH-1H (generic representation of Israeli commandos and assault/shock troops)

RECON

    Humvees
    Jeeps
Alouette III (stand-in for Alouette II)
    Kiowa series (except perhaps Warrior)
    Rangers in UH-1H, UH-60

TANKS

Every single Patton tank in the game, except for the Starships.
M60A1 ERA is your best tank, a Magach 6B with BLAZER.
Unfortunately the Super M60 is a prototype, otherwise it'd make a lovely stand-in for the Magach 7.

If you want to cheat, the best way to represent the Merkava is probably the Leopard 2, 2A1 and 2A4 for I, II and III.

SUPPORT

    K107
    M109 (any)
    M110 (any)
M270 MLRS (French, German or British)
    M163 VADS/PIVADS (Hovet/Machbet)
    Hawk (any)

VEHICLES

All TOW/I-TOW/TOW-2 ITVs, jeeps, Humvees, etc.
All recoiless rifle jeeps and M113s
M163 CS (Hovet/Machbet aiming at the ground)
    M728 CEV

HELO

    AH-1S
    AH-1F
AH-1T (I assume Israel has TOW-2 capability with their Cobras)
    AH-64A
Possibly Hog and Heavy Hog; I'm not sure how Israel's Hueys were used beyond transportation.

PLANES
Note: I assume literally any variant of the American planes are legit to include in an Israel deck, with all the ugrades they did)

F-15A "Baz" (or F-15J if you want two)
    F-15C "Baz"
    F-15D (Strike Eagle) "Ra'am"
    F-16A "Netz"
    F-16C "Barak"
    Mirage IIIC "Shahak"
Mirage 5F (stand-in for Kfir and Nesher)
    A-4 Skyhawk "Ayit"
    F-4 "Kurnass"

As close as I could get, the Iranians use a lot of gear from both sides of the Iron Curtain. I'm making it from REDFOR because that makes up the most of their force.

VEHICLES

All Fagot, Konkours, and Malyutka Jeeps and BDRM carriers
    All SPG jeeps

HELO

Note: Most Iranian helos are of NATO origin so this'll be a weak link.
Mi-8 Gunships if you want to cheat

PLANES

Note: Again, a lot of Iran's planes are of NATO make, so you may be a little weak here. To counteract this, I'm going to assume that they'll use every plane they have on this list in every role they can. If you can find good substitutes in the REDFOR arsenal let me know.

I've actually enjoyed making a Yom Kippur war Israeli deck ... granted i used Canadian Airborne as my 'line' infantry. And M60A1 ERA's are awesome IMO

Also for 'competitiveness ' and Realism i tend to use Challanger's as Merekava's due to in my opinion a closer resemblance of the Merekava , the Merk is kind a bastard child between a Leopard , Abrams , Challanger and T-90.

On a separate note i occasionally use 90's Fusileers in Warriors as my IDF line infantry when i'm making a 'modern' deck.

LAW80's acting as MATADOR's , L85's as TAR-21's and the L86 just kinda fills in , to be totally authentic should be a M240 as it's the closest to the Negev NG7

Warriors .... yes i know the IDF currently operates no autocannon IFV's BUT they are considering throwing 30mm cannons on their current IFV's so i can bend the rules a bit...ish....smeh..

When making my IDF decks I tend to use Centurions mixed with M60/M48's They used a lot of Centurions. Otherwise it seems my deck resembles yours.

Anyone up for doing a complete list for Iraq? Including Western units and units not presently in the game. Wikipedia has a list, but I'm not sure how reliable it is.

I already have a 1991 deck for Iraq, I could take a shot at it for you.

Full list of Iraqi French equipment:

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=s1yz ... 0P&f=false

The more I look into it the more I think Iraq would actually be a really interesting (and actually quite powerful) country in Wargame.
