[GUIDE] Artillery rate of fire and accuracy comparison

Postby DiabloTigerSix » Thu 28 Mar 2013 12:53

  • All shots are uncorrected.
  • Camera positions and zoom levels may vary a little. Use the scale of the town as a reference.
  • Firing rates may contain deviations, mainly for MLRS, because I've got new watches and they're so complicated to use that I can't even figure out how to use the stopwatch on them. I was using the in-game timer to figure them out.
  • The range for accuracy tests of self-propelled howitzers and mortars was 4000 meters.
The range for accuracy tests of multiple rocket launchers was 6500 meters.

Interesting read, thanks.
The M109A2 seems to get a much bigger increase in accuracy than other artillery. Bug?

No, I linked the wrong picture(M106A2). It's fixed now.

Very good idea for a thread.
Goshdarnit that Malka accuracy...
Only fix to that in my experience as a NATO player is to fight fire with fire and buy M110s.
Nice btw how you embedded the link in your sig pic, neat :)

Now I see why people use Auf1s

Seriously, I thought that the Paladin would be competitive with the Auf1, but it takes an almost full vet paladin to match the accuracy of an unvetted Auf1, and the Auf1 on top of it has a higher rate of fire! The only thing the paladin has going for it is the extra range, which on most maps is not a major concern.

Very interesting, thank you for your work.

You should maybe add the stated accuracy of the unit above each picture.

Proves nothing.....Do a test showing the ACTUAL fall of the shot(s) from the 1st volley to the final volley. Also, do most people actually use their long ranged arty at 4,000 meters? I suspect that is a rare occurrence.

Leaving tube artillery sitting by a FOB at the back of your base is pretty silly unless it's a Malka or a Pion (too slow, too low ammo capacity). Bring them forward with your main push and you'll get a lot of accuracy for free (well, for the price of a supply truck or two). You also get the nice side effect of not having a gigantic juicy SF target sitting in your unprotected rear.
