Newb questions about scoring & strategic map

Postby Grotius » Thu 27 Jun 2013 23:25

I just started the first campaign against the AI, and I have a couple basic questions.

1. First, on the strategic map, a sector sometimes lists a lot of points for me, fewer for the other sides. But when I load up the battle in that sector, each side starts with zero. What do the points on the strategic map indicate?

2. Second, after a campaign battle, I see a scoring screen. It gives me some sort of reward (XP?) for various activities, including kills, command points, etc. I don't understand this screen at all. E.g., what command points am I being rewarded for? Total points generated during the battle? Total points spent?

3. Along the same lines, do I get any score points if I am economical and don't use all my available command points during a mission?

Apologies if the questions seem newbish, but I read the manual, and it's kinda vague on this stuff. Thanks.

1) okay, i am not sure what you're referring to, so:
-On the strategic map (which I think is the big map showing battlegroups with colour vehicles and looks like the RTW campaign map) the numbers in the sectors represent how many reinforcement points (for deploying battlegroups, not units on the battlefield) you get per day for holding the territory.
-When initiating the battle you are presented with two numbers:
-Starting points: Based on initiative this number represent how many points you start off with. Not that in the battle it will ALWAYS BE LOWER as the value of your default spawned command vehicle is deducted from the original number. Also note that the AI will deploy WAY more units than it has points for, or at least it feels like it does.
-Points to win: Based on enemy morale this is how many points you must kill on the battlefield to force the enemy battlegroup to retreat.
-In the battle numbers on the zones represent how many points you get for holding the zone with a command vehicle, the points are delivered every few secs and can be spent on killy things.

2) Command points are how many points you earned during the battle and no, you do not get extra exp for being frugal with your deployment (though anything lost in a battlegroup is lost for good). The screen itself tallies wins and losses and the numbers/sums at the bottom don't really matter, they just are a physical way of seeing how my exp you're getting. Exp means you level up, it is not as important as in EE to level up, but it is nice.

3) No you don't, unless you play a mode called economy which is not in the campaign.

Hope this helps and happy hunting,

George
