This is why Warrior's RARDEN has 3AP whilst normal RARDEN has only 2. Its original 30mm rounds were significantly worse than the 25mm Bushmaster, until newer ammunition was supplied in the late '80s which was much more competitive.

Why does the 40mm Bofors L70 gun have only 3 AP-value...?

It has top of the range super duper high tech APFSDS tungsten ammo for use against hard targets.

Same thing can be asked as why a 14.5mm bullet has the same HE value has a 57mm shell. Low calibre stats are quite hard.

Because of the KE scaling, 4 would be too powerful. So it gets 3, and extra range - so it gets more effective AP than other 3AP autocannons at the same range.

KE 4 would be unspeakably brutal.

It has 3 AP at superior range, resulting in a lot more AP at the maxrange of the bushmaster.

AP is not everything - range is as important.

By the way, the 40 mm BOFORs already is by far the best AC.

The more expensive BMP-3 is far less likely to be seen in numbers than the Bradley, especially since the Soviets have plenty of cheap IFV options for volleying ATGMs at the enemy.

We apparently play in different crowds...I rarely see bradleys, but see a lot of bmp3 from team mates (I rarely play Nato). That smoothbore gun on the bmp3 is worth it's weight in gold.

Whenever I face an American player I'm basically drowning in Bradley's.

I still drown in BMP-3's against a Russian player though.

I f**king hate them both.

I can confirm this statement.

If the BMP-3 has to use its AC, something went wrong, and most likely you are already in big trouble.

You buy BMP-3s because of their six 2800m ATGMs and their infantry destroying cannon of OP-plx-nerf.

The AC only gets used if you are getting rushed by light vehicles (and that does not really happen anymore) or if you run out of ATGMs.

The BMP-3 is one of the bread and butter units in a Cat A CCCP deck. It can safely engage enemy tanks and ATGM vehicles from range and it is one of the best units to counter enemy ATGM teams. A very flexible unit. The bradley is far more one dimensional.
