Historical Deck Resource (Playing non-WAB in WAB!)*Update2*

Postby Commissar Fuklaw » Sat 11 May 2013 02:15

So, in addition to the Vietnam/75 thing... I've taken on a few other projects.

Mind you, ALL LISTS are permanent Works in Progress. With that said, these decks are "historical" decks. These are unit limits to make a force similar to a particular group. Example, the Qatar Armed Forces – Armored Brigade. You can make your deck using these unit options.

Again this isn't 100% accurate but it is close enough and in many cases dead on. You are welcome to limit yourself to specific unit amounts (EG: Qatar only had 15 Gazelles, period.) This is all for playing historical games for fun, or just using a new deck.

I will keep all unit organization in Google Documents - simply because it makes it far easier to read/edit uniformly. Formats are not "uniform" yet - North Korea and Vietnam things are not table organized at this time.

**List of nations intended for Red Dragon**
-No guarantee they can be made-
-Singapore 1990 or Modern
-Taiwan 1990 or Modern
-Italy 1990s
-Vietnam post 75
-Spain 1990s
-Greece 1990s
-Cuba proper

-Updates coming to all existing wars, especially Vietnam
-North Korea removed for obvious reasons, left for ALB players.
-Soviet Afghanistan
-Iraq War (most of it available)
-War on terror theoretically possible... unlikely.
-Possibly Korean War? Depends on what we see out of "Cat-C" units from NK and SK...

Ukraine gone hot (Not mine but good!)

Well.. I've just posted a scenario with an hypothetic Ukrainian modern deck (based on urkrainian army website) in an other topic, sorry I didn't read this post before, otherwise i would have put this scenario in there.

[spoiler=scenario]scenario : Secession

Type : Destruction / Conquest

Forces :
- [PACT] 1st Guards Armoured Brigade, based in Honcharivske (current Ukraine)
- [PACT] 7th Guards Airborne-Assault Division, based Novorossiysk, (current Russia)

Map : Stavanger

Plot :
When diplomacy fails..
1 March 1984, Crimea.
After february recent troubles in Kiev, a tempoprary governement has been formed to claim Urkainian independance. the 1st Guards Armoured Brigade has clamed to belong to the new Kiev governement. The 1st Guards Armoured Brigade is now heading south to secure its new territory.
Meanwhile at the Kremlin, direct orders are given to the 7th Guards Airborne-Assault Division to protect the russian population in Crimea, and most likely the naval base they have in there. To achieve this objective, Simferopol airport must be seized.

Notes : (to be extented)
- 7th Guards Airborne-Assault Division should not go further the line in the 2nd picture.
- Decks need improvement. i want em to become more realistic but there i'll need help

Spoiler : Map & Decks :

2011- Syrian Civil War

1990 Gulf War

Vietnam War 1970-75

North Korea - 1985

Malvinas/Falklands War

Yom Kippur War -1973

More will be added as I feel it, if you wish to make your nation or favorite conflict or something along those lines, feel free to post it here. I'll verify it is close-to-accurate and organize it.

I hope you guys enjoy these. I don't know why I am compelled to do this.

Thank you to several who helped me during these processes.

Awesome thread is awesome. Deserves a sticky IMO.

Both NK and Iraq look like a ball.

Added Yom Kippur War as accurate as I could find it in first pass.

My preliminary thoughts on the Argentine side of the Falklands War:
US Marines in LVTP-7 (wrong gun, but only way to get LVTP-7)
Canadian rifles in trucks
Canadian Blowpipe in trucks
Chassaurs in Puma
M38A1 106mm
Roland
AMX-13 AU 105mm
Flakpanzer
AML 60/20
AML 90
A4F (A4B)
Super Entendard
Mirage F1C (IAI Nesher)
Mirage 111EA

Updated Iraq Data to include L-39 Albatros and T-69 stand in.

Also added Note 4: This deck is capable of representing the Republican Guard Formations well enough, use 1980 B deck modifier to represent the lower end units of the standard Iraqi Armed Forces

TY nutegunray for the feedback on Iraq.

This is why we need a map editor. To play non-WAB things in non-WAB....oh wait!

I wonder if a Korean war deck would be possible. I'm curious to see some decks fighting with terrible units. A downside would be a large amount of US planes from that era are missing from Airland.
Pursue one great decisive aim with force and determination.
