Re: Add Westwood C&C Sidebar .

A "Westwood"-style C&C Sidebar would not work for AoA. ⋅ Due to the fact that the camera is pitched, you can actually see farther in the vertical direction than the horizontal direction, for the same amount of screen space. A square viewport would therefore result in an actua...

Re: We need to mine!

Remember the reason the developers gave for removing perma-stealth? ... it’s so powerful that it becomes obvious for all players to forsee counter measures all the time. So all players have to use anti-stealth units all the time. It’s not anymore a tactical choice, it’s an obligation. And this oblig...

Re: Preview of the new UI to be released on September 2nd

GROUPING As kindly requested by the community, the control groups (ctrl+1, 2, 3 etc...) will be displayed as icons just above the bottom panels of the HUD. This will make it much easier to remember your groups and assign production buildings, in order to quickly produce units and buildings. UI impr...

Re: bunkers to improve infantry survivability

Honest question: Are there not enough towns on the map to work with already? I thought the whole reason for garrisonable buildings was to add strategic depth to the maps. Similarly, the middle of the map on Valley of Death is... well, in the title.

Re: Community issue: We are not getting feedback to our feedback

It would be nice, although I will point out it's 22:40 (10:40pm) on Friday in France right now.

Granted, there are some times when responding either ends discussion prematurely or just makes people yell louder.

Re: Final appeal on infantry

The problem, as I have said, AI and many other players don't use infantry at all. AI doesn't use houses to position their infantry, no need to use marines to clear houses (I don't know if they're going change on the release day). Are you saying they should rebalance the game because the AI is dumb?...

Re: Final appeal on infantry

I'd agree with your assessment of basic infantry's uses (sit in bank, capture stuff) but not the causes or the solution. Their combat capability is anti-infantry. That seems useless because there aren't a lot of other infantry on the field when playing against CPU or many players. However, broadenin...

What's coming for UI?

A Eugen team member mentioned in another thread that some UI optimizations are being considered or worked on, which is very welcome. I believe the specifics were that multi-building production hotkeys were being considered and indicators (buttons?) for hotkey group access were being added. Given tha...

Re: Act of Aggression: Success, Failure or Mediocrity?

Atmosphere is a super generic term, i feel to provide valuable feedback being concrete helps a lot to understand what is wrong in a game dont you agree? I'm not the person you were quoting (edit: he replied for himself above), but I have also felt strongly about this. The factions have very little ...

Re: AoA and the problem of zoom...

Overlay_Comparison.jpg I made a picture comparing the standard camera to the satellite view, which I think shows a few things more clearly: ⋅ The zoom levels are not actually that close ⋅ If some systems are having trouble with the current level of zoom, there's NO WAY they can ...
