Re: SD2 battle mechanics

Yeah, Panic planes and alarm artillery are back in spades. The infantry fight feels like a bit of a downgrade back to the bad old Wargame feels: Infantry have too much open terrain to cross, not enough microcover to cross it with. That said, it doesn't seem to feel as bad as wargame, for some reason...

Re: Initial Impressions

I'm finding it pretty enjoyable so far, though I'm back to square one, with Allies getting their asses handed to them at range.

Initial Impressions

After 3 matches, some impressions. Really messy and difficult to understand. I've mostly played as USSR, but I have a hard time telling what units are selected, or what units have just died. In my first match, things were so difficult to read I couldn't tell what units I had selected and so had sent...

Re: Bringing the Frontline System to Wargame

I don't think that is true, especially the 2nd point. From my experience (and others) the frontline allowing you to push "anywhere" is mostly an illusion. You still always push sides where the map offers cover, buildings, a strong position. You don't push through an open field and stop mi...

Re: Bringing the Frontline System to Wargame

If the visuals are the problem, change the frontline feature so... ⋅ Have a no mans land ⋅ Remove spawn caps. Units now spawn from the on the edge of the board from anywhere the player wants. ⋅ Make frontline start from the first mile of the board at each spawn, with a ...

Artillery is definitely not something you want to see fire automatically and reveal its position or empty its ammo on any small threat.

And inevitably friendly fire.

And counterbattery.

Re: King Tiger armor vs Jumbo armor

However, all that being said, we are left to ponder the question as to why someone would introduce a new round that is inherently less accurate than the round it is replacing, which was also fully capable of killing some of the heaviest enemy armour out to ranges beyond that possible by any other g...

Re: King Tiger armor vs Jumbo armor

Further, I doubt anyone will find an actual contemporary source that uses the range '500 m'...seeing both the UK and US measured in imperial measurement, which further adds to my suggestion that the inaccuracy argument is largely BS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNjp_4jY8pY#t=24m50s/ Yards are p...

Re: Off map heavy bomber raid for allies (in expansion or the next game)

Judging by how Eugen handles bombing in its games, I'm expecting a B-17 to be about as accurate as a mile long F-11C strike.

Re: Aerial Recon

They seem decent for getting a spotter close to an enemy's defenses, check behind his bushes in the early game, but enemy AA or ASF concentrations overrule them in Phases B and C.
