Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

And one for weak cover and one for mid cover and one for heavy cover. Then one for small units and one for normal units and one for big units. Then this all over again when bush gets in the way of the scout unit. Good luck with that. It would feel like being on LSD... soooo many colours. Ok, then i...

Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

Did you even look at that thread I posted? Two separate players ran tests and discovered that size doesn't make any difference to the range at which units are detected. Units are detected at different ranges, but the categories are: infantry (hardest to detect), recon, everything (easiest to detect)...

Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

If we only have one LoS indicator for normal sized units then a year from now we'll probably still be arguing over whether Mi-26s are spotted at the same distance as Abrams or not. Me and Nerdfish have both explained how you could take different detection distances into account fairly easily. I hone...

Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

4) I'm fairly sure the post you linked about 3 ranges is wrong. Mi-26s, for example, I think are more visible than everything else. They may be the only exception, but I'm fairly sure they're an exception. You know what? You could be right. I'd need two copies of the game on two different computers...

Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

Mh... Nope. I actually like that aspect of the game. Also, how are you supposed to indicate LoS when different units are spotted at different ranges? We explained it earlier in the thread. It would work like in RUSE (see here if you haven't played it), but instead of having the one range circle you...

Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

I think just a shaded area to show LOS would be enough. Depends what you mean by "enough". The current system works, but in one of the previews they said that a big aim of AirLand Battle was to work on ease of use and to try and cut down on the "trial and error" aspects of the g...

Re: Could we have sight indicator for scouts ?

I think this needs to happen, and it's perfectly doable. Just copy the RUSE system but instead of one ring you have 3 different colour coded ones: one for infantry, one for recon and one for everything else. Since that could be annoying to have on all the time it should be possible to toggle it on a...

Re: Previews and news related to W:AB

That was something I was wondering about too. I like the idea of letting players build more specialised decks that put the focus overwhelmingly on armour/ infantry/ choppers or whatever, but will we still be able to build the sort of decks we currently have in W:EE? I.e ones that can operate indepen...

Re: Remember TA? (Total Annihilation) Here comes PA!

I think expansion will be really strange, like WW1's trenches: There will be the first area of impact of forces. People will spread out to form a large line and when that battle lineis set, units start to be sent too the skies. Yeah it'll be interesting, because in TA fixed defences were always pre...

Re: Remember TA? (Total Annihilation) Here comes PA!

I'm glad this got posted here. It looks like an incredible project if large scale RTS is your sort of thing. Also letting players strap rockets to asteroids to turn them into giant missiles is sheer mad genius right there. It's on kickstarter if you have some bucks. And an american citizenship... I'...
