Re: The obligatory "will there be a Linux version?" thread

A second try was unsuccessful as well. I spent four or five hours, but I couldn't get it to work. When the game is launched in fullscreen mode, it blocks the X server. When the game is launched in windowed mode, I get an error message saying that it can't be run in windowed mode... Since Eugen is un...

Re: The obligatory "will there be a Linux version?" thread

A first try with Wine 2.5 was unfortunately not successful. The game doesn't start at all. I used standard Wine settings with Windows version set to 7. Will try again with the old WinXP mode. I guess this needs more tweaks and probably the right set of DLLs. We would need more people trying to get t...

Re: The obligatory "will there be a Linux version?" thread

No, they don't. Anyways, Linux user base is too small, that's why Eugen doesn't want to support Linux anymore. It's a shame, but we penguins have to live with it. I'll buy the game anyway and try to get it to work with Wine. If it doesn't, there's always Steam refund service. I honestly thought more...

Re: The obligatory "will there be a Linux version?" thread

Thanks for the billionth answer :) Maybe it will run under Wine. Luckily with Steam, we can always buy the game, test it, and if it doesn't work, return the game. I can understand your decision to not support Linux, the user base is incredibly small for reasons I'll never understand :) Good luck and...

The obligatory "will there be a Linux version?" thread

Title says it all. Since SD also uses the IrisZoom engine, I imagine it won't be too hard to port the game to Linux. Since I don't need Windows anymore and only boot it once or twice per month, it would be great if things could stay exactly like that :) Yeah, I know that the Linux user base is reall...

Re: [Linux] Fullscreen doesn't cover entire monitor

Just chiming in to confirm that I too have some issues with fullscreen on 1440p monitor. I only get a fullscreen if I use "windowed fullscreen". The "real" fullscreen mode results in a smaller window only covering about a quarter of the screen. Note that I use dual monitor which ...

Back after after a longer absence - need short advice

Hi there, I haven't played W:RD for quite a long time. I bought all the DLCs but only tried them once, quickly. I'm not a good player, and I play mostly for fun, offline that was, up to now at least. Can someone please tell me in just a few words what has changed over the last 12 months? Not unit st...

[Solved ] Re: [Linux] Game doesn't launch anymore

Problem solved.

I had to remove every trace of the game from my /home partition and redownload the game.
There must have been some defunct files in the game directory, which weren't picked up by Steam's integerity check.

Thanks for your attention.

Re: [Linux] Game doesn't launch anymore

Thanks for your reply.
My processor doesn't have an integrated graphics unit...
Also please note that other games (didn't test them all of course) work well on Steam. It's just WG:RD that won't start.

Re: [Linux] Game doesn't launch anymore

How would you do that? You mean disabling OpenGL? My nvidia drivers and settings haven't changed since the last time the game worked - with the exception of the nvidia module being recompiled against the latest kernel. Here are some more stats: Intel Haswell-E, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1070 with 375.26...
