Re: Crowd Funding for WG4 ?

Come to think of it RD might have worked better with an ARMA model where the developer provides the engine with a handful of core assets - expanded over the years with updates updates and DLC content - and the community provides the game modes, additional assets etc. A roadmap could be extending the...

Re: Crowd Funding for WG4 ?

Maybe it's not such a crazy idea as it sounds at first. We have Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, and even Duke Nukem Forever got eventually released. WG4 is a bit of a community dream so the crowdfunding model might be suited. Still I think you're maybe trying to solve the wrong problem. If Eugen want...

Re: SD44 new players friendly version

- You could not fix the TOS at the start in the wargame, but you can, here in the SD44. The game has very serious problems with artillery. Briefly: all self-propelled artillery, especially mlrs, must be transferred to the "C" phase, large-caliber artillery should be moved to phase "B...

Re: Commercial success of different Eugen games

12 months peak player count for Steel Division was 813 - slightly pumped up by a recent patch, which points at one obvious and possible error source in my crude statistics (could use a 30 day moving average or something for a better analysis). SD is far from being an AoA style flop, but still it see...

Re: Support, the most loathed players?

This has been a great read so far. Lots of points one never considered and I might even make my first real experiment at building a support deck after reading this :) I guess I'm a bit biased due to thinking that the only real Wargame is 3v3 or 4v4. 10v10 is weird but it's popular. I can see good su...

Re: To SEAD, or not to SEAD

ASF and helicopters are still used by good players? What makes you think otherwise? Maybe not that much - a couple of forum comments/threads over time and the very occasional game where high levels of skill are obvious (don't go hunting those that often). Hence asking to verify :) My impression has...

Re: To SEAD, or not to SEAD

ASF and helicopters are still used by good players? Well, SEAD can be a problem to my armored-SPAAG. Loss of 50 or 100 pts time to time, and often plenty of targets for SEAD. Unprotected tanks cost more. Then again the question was with good players :) Good anti-SEAD skills can make a world of a dif...

Re: Your Favourite Unit?

Has to be T-90. It's cuddly. And can both take and dish out punishment. It makes an impact on the battlefield. Usually take it as the T-72BU variant though. It's a bit sorta like the old T-72B on steroids, from Steel Panthers 2 and EE. Top tier Challenger a bit too, being the same plus being big and...

Re: Favourite Map?

Basically anything that has a balanced amount of large open fields and no massive forests like Bloody Ridge or Paddy Fields. Sorry guys  Obviously there's interesting ones that are different like Tough Jungle but somehow not so drawn to them, not enough space to roll over. Could we get SD m...

Re: To SEAD, or not to SEAD

Suppressive fire, I guess. Without any SEAD the better players might get aggressive and turn the AA on. You want that? :)

Hangs together with rising the micro costs for good players too.
