Re: Critique on Economy, Pacing and Micro. [Video]

As for the rest of your post, I won't quote it here but with AoA - I think people like to think the in game decisions they will be making affect the outcome - but essentially it's going to come down to blob vs blob with 95% of the people not know exactly why their blob lost. The idea of hit and run...

Re: Act of aggression looks disappointing

A macro management or micro management tilt is a completely different animal than simulation mechanics. The only RTS that I can name as a simulator would be something like Capitalism 2, an economics simulator. I believe you are taking Oompah's post far too literal. I think when he says "sim li...

Re: Act of aggression looks disappointing

I find the term "casual" to be quite funny in it's use. I'd much rather define the game by the pace. The more "realities" you add to a video game - ie prone vs not prone... you have to think about the actual mechanics of the game. Simply put to incorporate things like whether you...

Re: RTS bounce rate

You can't remove economy, strategy, building, scouting, nor can you remove micro, unit personality, action and have an _A_ game. I agree - but the extent of economy is best left to when to boom it at some point in the game. Putting it in the front of the game, and making it a bit more complicated d...

Re: RTS bounce rate

First options need to be super simple but the complexity that emerges needs to result in a lot of fun strategic choices to make in the first five mins. If you can't capture your target and give that user flow within the first five then I reckon there is some money not being made down the line. Ahh ...

Re: Act of aggression looks disappointing

I personally was upset that in my base I could not build either latrines or port a potties. I mean in reality, your men have to go to the bathroom... and if you can't get that small detail right - how am I supposed to trust the rest of the game? If I can't spend 5 minutes during the early game perfe...

Re: RTS bounce rate

before I start this discussion and get flame broiled I want to make one disclaimer. I applaud any game company who strives to make a complex, fun, rich and rewarding game even at the cost of accessibility. That being said, I hate to see a good game be overlooked because the opening parts are too in...

Re: AoA released in September 2015

Well at least they have given themselves a chance. As others have said early game is far too cumbersome and boring. A push back gives them a chance to fix this. That doesn't mean they will - but this is the first step that was needed. We know they aren't making Generals 2 - but if there is one thing...

Re: Critique on Economy, Pacing and Micro. [Video]

But that is only your opinion, maybe it would work. Could it work? very very very very very doubtful. This is the point... taking something that wasn't broken and adding to it for the sake of adding in the name of strategy alienates both sides of the aisle. You've bored the fans of Generals with a ...

Re: Act of Aggravation: High Action

Great post - agree with nearly all of it. Simply put - blob wars with macro base building makes for a fairly boring game. Some may enjoy it, but in the end it fizzles pretty hard and people quickly go elsewhere. Much enjoyed watching these shortly after playing AoA beta, and realizing just how much ...
