Seems correct. Double check everything. Make a new mod. Don't upload to steam. Don't worry about ndfbins. Just make changes (probably avoid the DLCXX folders as they contain duplicates of some files), generate mod and activate. When you activate the mod press apply and let it restart. If it doesn't ...

That's not so easy... 1) Find the unit depiction in Gameplay/Gfx/Generated/Infanterie/GeneratedDepictionInfantry.ndf If you can't find it by name, search the unit name in Gameplay/Gfx/Generated/ShowRoomEquivalance.ndf to find the show room unit, then in that unit in ShowRoomUnits.ndf find GfxWeaponM...

You'll find the weapons defined in GameData/Gameplay/Gfx/Generated/WeaponDescriptor.ndf

To add a weapon add a new TTurretInfanterieDescriptor

It's possible that the line number is wrong, it happens rarely.

It could be that the GUID is missing/wrongly formatted in the bit that you're editing.

If you can't find it try to rollback changes until you get it, or if you haven't made many changes you can revert and redo them

I'm actually trying to understand how the penetration system works, because having a AP 5 firing at max range at an Armor 2 vehicle and having only 16% penetration is just stupid. So they conflicts system work pretty well, I'd still like it to pop up in kdiff (for any devs out there), but hey it's good. The only problem is that is raising conflicts that aren't really conflicts e.g. I changed the MaxDamages for a fighter bomber, and eugen in the patch changed the SupressDamage...

Penetration and accuracy are based on two different values, but both come from a 2D6 roll. You can modify dice count and/or dice max value but you cannot have diferrent settings for penetration and accuracy rolls. That means that you can set the roll to be 1D100 or 65D3, but you cannot have a 2D6 f...
