Oh, ok, so the only way to test this would be in a human vs. human MP game (i.e. not human vs. AI)?

Now I really feel like an idiot. I just tried this, by setting up a private MP game vs the AI. I can see four concentric squares in the minimap but the only thing that clicking anywhere in the minimap does for me (either before "Launch Game" or after, is zoom the 3-d map onto the secor cli...

How does map ping work (if implemented in recent patch/DLC)?

I read that the map ping feature was to be implemented in today's update/DLC. I haven't seen any documentation or discussion of this so maybe I'm mistaken. If not, however, can anyone explain how it works? This is the only RTS I play so I'm unfamiliar with any genre-specific conventions and commands...

you don't learn anything by playing against the AI. I knew someone would say that. Of course, it's too broad a statement, not entirely true and therefore not very helpful.
