Re: Infantry guns: the verdammt IG 18
1000m was the intended range, 800 was a mistake they forgot to fix before the release. Well they should have left the mistake in then. At 800m range it was a unit sparingly used and I had to actually campaign to have people test it. It was awesome but required some precautions for it to shine, a ni...

Re: Steel Division sales...
Really ?! How old are you ? Close Combat is a goddamn cornerstone of ww2 tactical games, a series that span over 20 years. You want to sell a RTS with a ww2 setting, you better know your classics because your user base will know them. As a sidenote, I do wonder how much SD managed to reach the audie...

Re: Steel Division sales...
Well, I can't agree with the slow units being a bad thing. In Close Combat (the closest game that comes to the top of my mind), units are not that fast either, slower even. It also mechanically reduces the risks of rushes and never appears in all the complaints levied against the game nobody ever wi...

Re: Steel Division sales...
Hmmm, I cant see the reason why they keep nerfing Jumbo in the last patch. Perhaps it is just due to the fact that too many "average players" cried about how Jumbo is op and this game is unbalance blablabla My feeling is they did some more research and calculations and adjusted the Jumbo ...

Re: Steel Division sales...
I'm top 10 in ranked ! well it's an objective measure of progress in a system that identifies experience and skill. Besides elitism outrage, what's wrong with referencing it when you're at an impasse with someone who can't see the game in the same way. I see a few issues with this : - it's not an o...

Re: Steel Division sales...
There is sometimes some ground to the L2P argument (like the thread where the guy didn't want to understand that tanks alone will get ambushed by a panzershrek team) , but usually it's indeed akin to an easy dismissal. My favorite though is the eternal classic "1v1 ingame right now" when t...

Re: Steel Division sales...
I can see that they maybe tried to go for the non-rps balancing with the addition of things like the morale meter and the subsequent things it comes with, but in the current state it simply does not work in nearly every field I can think of. The game is littered with hard counter units like 1-shott...

Re: Steel Division sales...
With regards to the one-sided diet being supplemented by soft counters (generally a viable game design strategy too), I take players like Sleksa here could be irritated not just by the units not giving all your money's worth but also the thing that there is no good hard counter when the game design...

Re: Steel Division sales...
Your last suggestion would mean it can be used to put moraledamage on an avenue of attack a lot more effective then now, making it stronger in defense while weaker in offense. It should be nerfed by price or aimtime if anything. Aimtime would be the best IMHO. This way you really underline the role...

Re: Steel Division sales...
Which is surprising to me, considering that outside of balance, the game feels very polished to me. And it is not like any of the Wargames have been stellar in terms of balance at release, no? I'm not sure it's a solely question of balance. I'd say it's a question of fun. That and many other things...
