Re: Unlimited time and air resources makes game broken beyond playable

I need time limits on most of my games, and I suspect the majority of us do. It's a valuable feature and should not be discarded. This limit you always have - the button "surrender". Once again, if time is running out, your units are over, then capitulate. You do not need a timer to press...

Re: SD2 battle mechanics

The only concern I would have is that, given the relative predictability of engagement zones on maps, pre planned fire missions would need to be phase N onwards only or would fuck up the game a la opening napalm strikes I was thinking something like Artillery observers being able to order the fire ...

Re: Unlimited time and air resources makes game broken beyond playable

Pras seems to be overstating the case - no time limit games are valid game modes and simply encourage a different type of playstyle. You also see the most maneuvere warfare in them, and the least volume of meme anal-retentive micro that you used to see in some of the earlier titles. That said: I hav...

Re: SD2 battle mechanics

... Call in delays on air power. Seriously needed still - it and artillery shouldn't really be used as reactive units. Call in delay for aircraft together with longer loitering times would make air combat more interactive. The delay of artillery varied depending on the organization and doctrines. I...

Lessons from SD44: Improving strategic balance

A list of suggestions to improve the overall balance of SD2, by learning from the mistakes of SD44. I am more optimistic as to the balance of SD2, being an ostfront game. 1. Call in delays for air power. While reaction has significantly reduced in capability in SD44, it is sad to see that it's still...

Re: Armour in MM is not necessarily an indication of GOOD armour. Hetzer is a good example of this!!!

Darkmil you make our point exactly. We want the extra complexity and the working shown for all angles, thickness, armour type and quality etc. What is not desired is the dumbing down of stats we saw in SD1 to try to make the game into a competition level starcraft stats cruncher. The game claims to...

Re: Steel Division: Normandy 44 - December Program

I mean, I like the idea of hedgerows being crossable as it adds a few more tactical options, but I really don't want to see a return the the absurd situations in RD where infantry were just an inconvenient speed bump and you could clear forests with tanks..
