Re: The Canadian Armed Forces in RD

The Airborne and the Pathfinders were our commandos, and it still annoys me to look at airborne in the inf tab, placed in there as shock infantry without mechanized transport. They could have remedied that with two different pathfinders 5 man Patrol Pathfinder 10 man fighting Pathfinder group in th...

Would a Canadian MiG-25 really help them?

Canadian MiG-25 that never had armament fitted and still didn't have a fire control system....

Re: The Canadian Armed Forces in RD

Sorry to correct you, but the Canadians deployed to the former Yugoslavia in starting 1992 with UNPROFOR Slipped my mind, my apologies. In 1991 the TH495 has already been selected and the LAV III did not even exist on paper. Why would they select a new vehicle when they are already picked one? CCV ...

Re: The Canadian Armed Forces in RD

LAV III's have a really nasty habit of rolling over, seriously harming the crew. They are a bit top heavy, but the up armored ones are worse. This has happened in training at home and on patrol in Afghanistan. Just hitting a soft shoulder has caused this. They ARE sexy as hell, and very quick thoug...

Re: The Canadian Armed Forces in RD

TH-495 had been selected as the M113 replacement in 1991, they were looking for a location for the factory, which potentially was Bear Head industries in Cape Breton. I do believe the TH-495 would have been rushed to production, the Bison was purchased for the reserves, the reg force just stole mos...

Re: The Canadian Armed Forces in RD

I never noticed that the HLVW was a prototype. That is ridiculous, my dad wrote the course and was the commandant of the HLVW school in Germany in 1990...

Edit.

I also hate the car15 for canada, we never used it.

Re: The Commonwealth AA dilemma

If the ADATS were just made to reflect its real-life anti-plane capabilities (more range vs. planes and accuracy - I could live with a [RAD] tag for that even though it only used it for detection and then shut off during laser guidance), it would solve the big AA issues for the coalition without ad...
