Re: SD2 battle mechanics

The only concern I would have is that, given the relative predictability of engagement zones on maps, pre planned fire missions would need to be phase N onwards only or would fuck up the game a la opening napalm strikes I was thinking something like Artillery observers being able to order the fire ...

Re: Will objectives include positions with trenches or strong points or supply dumps?

One thing that is often done wrong with capture points is placing them in the middle of a bridge or road rather than to area that offers control over the important area. This kind of issues should be less prominent with they SD front system though. Maybe there could be some benefits to capturing som...

Re: SD2 battle mechanics

... Call in delays on air power. Seriously needed still - it and artillery shouldn't really be used as reactive units. Call in delay for aircraft together with longer loitering times would make air combat more interactive. The delay of artillery varied depending on the organization and doctrines. I...

Re: Dev Diary #10 - The New Deck Builder

I really hope the deck building limits haven't been relaxed too much from SD44. Units being limited to specific phases with the changing income was a genius move that solved the old Wargame issue of balancing low tier units that could only really be used to any effect by spamming. The SD44 made thos...

Re: Feedback: What Steel Division gets right and what it gets wrong

Here's my feedback on Steel Division. Great: -- The decision to use divisions instead of nations/coalitions as unit pools is great. Together with excellent battle phase system it makes a lot wider range of different armies viable and balanceable. Light, weak and/or old vehicles/weapons can be very e...

Re: [Red Dragon] Patch (v.61340)

Not listed in the changelog but it seems like TELAK 91 price was nerfed from 85(?) to 110 with the performance buffs. Too bad :( I kinda liked it as a viable budget artillery piece. Now it's just another 100+ points sniper arty which pretty much every faction in the game has. edit. Another unlisted ...

Re: [Red Dragon] Patch (v.61340)

Good changes!

I think the 5 man Maglan team with 4 missiles was the best balancing solution for them. They definitely weren't "hit too hard" and I think they will still be seen in most Israeli decks and continue to be very useful and efficient unit.

Re: Fine-tuning NK/China

Su-76 would be truly unique and flavourful as a light artillery piece. ... At 13000m-13500m and 3-4 HE they would inhabit an interesting role between mortars and medium artillery as a guerilla "people's or militia artillery piece". Given their lack of a MMG/hmg they could retain the dual ...

In FDF every conscript regardless of the future role is trained to use the LAW as part of the basic training and mainly the various Jääkäris are additionally trained to use APILAS.

Re: GUN AA Comparison Chart

Nice work. Unsurprisingly Machbet is absurdly effective and radar equipped Shilkas are weirdly weak. Machbet is 6.69 to 10 HE and PIVADS is 8.18 PIVADS is 80% as damaging as the Machbet. I don't really know why that comes in as absurdly effective. BIryusa is slightly less damaging than PIVADS over ...
