Re: Using NATO expensive units

In addition, as a person who has studied this area, I fail to find why the FCS's of NATO tanks are so overhyped. There is no way that an Abrams can achieve a high hit rate at 4KM as you suggest. The Abrams's onboard FCS is effective at around 2500m, just like the T-80. As a matter of fact, at the 4...

Re: Suggestions

No stinger for French army... never (Mistral entered in service after 1985)
Crotale is Air force only (for base defense purpose)
It's VAB T20-13 and not T13/T20

Re: Buffing the M1A1 with 11 AP or better optics

Have you ever used Leopard 2 FCS to really compare?
You have to wait M1A2 to have a dual axis stabilised mirror for the GPS, when it was already there with the LEO 1A5.

and first round on target is what every crew of every nation is trained for.

Re: Figured out the reason behind the lack of Challys in use

They are all wrong! If you want real source, take : Le systeme Leclerc, Stephane Ferrard-Gérard Turbet, ed Bosquet (1992) Char Leclerc, de la guerre froide au conflits de demain, Marc Chassillan, ed ETAI (2005). During the conception and definition phases (1978-1985), it was the EPC (engin principal...

Re: Figured out the reason behind the lack of Challys in use

Ok thanks for the information about the AMX-40. Do you think it would be realistic to think that it would have been rushed into service if a full scale war started? By 1985, only 2 combat capable prototypes were built (P2 and P3, P1 was a direct evolution of AMX32 turret with a new but underpowered...

Re: Figured out the reason behind the lack of Challys in use

The AMX-40 was a private venture and was an export product. The French Army wasn't interested in it at all. The AMX-32 was directly proposed to the French Army contrary to the AMX-40, but it was rejected for cost reason. It's quite different to me. The AMX-40 is very beautiful though and it seems t...
