Re: What exactly is the optic stat on tanks/vehicles?

Optics are the ability of a unit to spot enemies, and once spotted, to correctly identify them. Indentification is also modified by vet. For comparison, most (all?) non-recon infantry have optics of "normal". This is the baseline against which everything else is measured. Old tanks, being ...

Oh snap! No wonder the game leans so heavily towards realism in play and story!

It's always satisfying to see developers so thoroughly refute loud people on the forums. Keep up the great work guys!

Re: Quick Questions, Quick Answers

The number of XP you gain per fight is based on the length of the game (longer is more), the average level (roughly 100x average level), and a series of modifiers that change the final amount. Total victory is 1x, Draw is .7x, and defeat is (iirc), .5x. There are also a series of bonuses to be earne...

Re: Patch incoming

Rolands are my go-to air defense as NATO. I use 1s on flanks and in the rear, and 2s up front. While I've recently been irritated by their inadequate range for taking out distant Mi-9s, I find that they often take out Hinds in one volley - keep in mind that they fire a two-SAM burst, followed by a s...

Re: ATGM ranges, and realism rant

<snip!> Arty can and does take out helicopters ingame. In flight? I've seen them decimate helicopters that were on the ground. Might have to give that a shot this evening. Yup! Getting the artillery to land in front of them is tricky indeed, but it can certainly pay off. I've seen groups of chopper...

Re: Incoming patch #3 (release)

Everything looks great, I just wish that the MSTA didn't get cut from 12 to 4 along with everything else. I think that the other changes to arty and supply should have sorted it out, without having to have fewer of them. I liked being able to provide theatre artillery. :D

Re: Mass air + Mass arty = The death of this game

Personally I get kind of excited when I see a blob of Pact helos coming on. That's an awful lot of easy points! I always have a few individual SAM units sprinkled around my flanks and rear, so I can just move them towards the helos as soon as they're spotted. And my main fighting force is never with...

Re: Damn the arty spammers

So I think we should agree that arty/rockets are fine for combat (just like choppers are fine and you deserve to loose if you don't have any AA against them, etc), but concern is that its very effective against your main base, does it sound about right? So I never seen that happen (rockets killing ...

Re: Going up the big empty side in Hell's Highway

I actually just started using this tactic today in 1v1's/2v2's (1500/3000pt), as both NATO and PACT. It takes around 8 minutes to get in position, and either 2 HEMTT's or 4 Urals to refill everyone's gas tanks with enough left over for missiles. The trick for me is to distract and hold off the enem...
