Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

Yeah I heard about the US 25mm that was originally planned. Shame that the KBA 25 wasn't used by more NATO countries, it was available.

The British army at that time didn't understand new-fangled tactics like mechanised warfare, also our government tends to buy British because jobs etc.

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

IMO the early Rarden should have an accuracy buff and 3 AP, maybe an accuracy buff for the late one as well. The entire point of choosing a 30mm caliber was to be able to defeat better armored soviet IFVs expected in the 80's, yet in the game it still has the same worthless 2AP as a freaking 20mm g...

Re: Inquiry: Why does WRD not have a standardized unit naming system?

I think it comes down to there being a number of clone units and a desire to use local names where possible. I found the Israel to be one of the most confusing, I don't know why they couldn't have used the standard US designations. It's the same with Yugoslavia and Finland to some degree, but it's a...

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

Fuck, and here I thought autoloaders should have jammed crits or have their RoF lower as the HP of the unit goes down. I guess "weapon jammed" can cover that as is just fine. I think the author of that article probably tried to counter the arm-chewing myth that got around. The autoloader ...

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

Unless someone can show me that Soviet optics on the T-80U/BMP-3 are somehow way ahead of NATO optics I can't see justifying having such a range advantage. These are the specs for the T-80U - there are a few differences with the BMP-3, but the configuration is typical for most Soviet tanks. The com...

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

In EE, even the most basic SACLOS had near perfect accuracy and it should have remained that way IMHO. It was actually even worse than what we have now, Malyutka was only 20-25%, Dragon had 15% @ 2275m and Milan was also really bad. In spite of this TOW-2 had 65% which was as high as it went, altho...

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

I think the Tow series has generally been overbuffed than its irl capability of accuracy. I think the answer lies in the fact that they're not man portable, if you look at the original unit cards Milan, Fagot/Konkurs are all mounted on the shoulder of the guy carrying them. You could make an argume...

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

The TRAM is the most modern A-6 variant in game, and is capable of LGB use if I remember correctly. It's a shame that the two most advanced variants of US aircraft are locked in the naval tab to fling Harpoons. Yeah there are a few weapons it could use, for same reason it never got an engine upgrad...

Re: Maybe the USMC was right to go with the M103?

I meant rerole them outta the naval tab. They aren't of much use with Harpoons. And I'm not changing TOW stats, but giving the Bradleys the TOWs that match their introduction date. Marine is allied to naval so you won't see them used as fighters, the A-6 is actually better suited in this role becau...
