Re: [guide] Choosing your PACT infantry

Case in point - in a game I just now finished, a single unvetted Motostrelci unit killed 3 Leo2A4 and 2 Amx32. That's about a hundred times more points than the unit's worth. FYI this was on an Alamo map. NATO were doing the breakout and gradually much steamrolled my defense with mortars, tank+APC r...

Re: Heavy tanks = boring

What do you mean with high point games? 1500 per player? Because 1500 per player isn't high points, it's pretty standart. And even in 2v2's heavies are very important. I would say anything above 3500/3players/side is "high point" for me. Also, generally you start seeing above-mentioned he...

Re: How does the bullpup layout work?

In my experience, bullpups sound like a great idea on paper, but not so much in practice. The "explosion" of the round takes place a lot closer to your face which is never a good thing, reloads are a bit clumsier, shooting isn't as convenient (have you ever seen a hunter or olympic shooter...

Re: Heavy tanks = boring

err heavies can still kite, though it depends what you mean by low point... 1000? 750? 500? 200? If you go for very low then the game can be decided very quickly depending on what people open with 750 per player, give or take 250. Yeah heavies are still very powerful, but now they can actually be c...

Re: Heavy tanks = boring

I find a problem of heavies is also a problem of scale. They aren't quite as bad in low pt games: When faced with one Leo 2A4, for the same points you can field 6-7 ATGM units that will stop it, or jump it with 10 crap tanks, or rush with 15 crap infantry (or most likely combination of all three) et...

Re: [guide] Choosing your PACT infantry

My 2c: Since the game is point-based, I prefer using really cheap sucky infantry en masse. Since I mostly need them + their transports as a passive doom fortress screen for my flame tanks, their suckyness doesn’t matter. Basically yeah I could use a mix of German infantry and Spetsnaz to set up a do...

Re: OSA pact anti air units and the strela-10

AFAIK mortars are much more deadly in woods because they tend to burst hitting treetops, raining shrapnel on everyone below. Large-caliber HE is not so sensitive I think so should be about the same in forest and in the open. Not sure about rocket arty.

Best wishes,
Daniel

Re: Feasability of an Airmobile Deck.

One thing I pulled semi-successfully is sending a command helo, a recon helo, and airmobile IGLAs to an advance capzone in the beginning of the game. The enemy rushes to hit your command helo with a helicopter blob, command helo starts running away, blob runs into IGLAs. The problem is that with the...

Re: Few things

Indeed , BUKS are better but they are too expensive. Tunguska is borderline too expensive at 112 for vet 2. You don't have to vet Buk's: 10 accuracy is plenty, and morale is not needed as they hardly ever get shot at. Also, they'll level quickly. 85 for basic BUKM1 that denies the enemy 9km of airs...
