I would say we should put the drama out of ranked, trivialize it. One solution would be radical but simple : all games are ranked. There's one type of rank per type of game possible (1v1, 2v2, ...). Reading this thread feels a bit like being Bill Murray in GroundHog Day . Helirush were a problem (in one form or another, for one reason or another) since WEE. Rather than shooting the messenger, I'd like to thank him (here Hunter & Random) to again raise the awareness about the helirush issue....

Indeed.
It's one of the (many in my opinions) points in need of fixing.
I would nonetheless doubt Eugen suffers from a deficit of information concerning the general state of multiplayer, I'd think it's more about having a different point of view (and sense of priority) on the issues at hand.

Dear OP, Yes you're right. 10v10 can be a plague, too many options too, and so are the stats. But all the people in this thread contradicting you on those points are also right. 10v10 can be a lifesaver, it's super awesome to have a game fine-tuned to what I want and stats allow people to avoid pubs...

Very sound summary indeed.
I'd personally like to see some streamlining all around, like a much more helpful interface for the player with quick access to all buildings and units, but your text is really spot on.
