Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

One could say that you remember wargame not for its good models, but for the ones that have character :D.

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

I don't know where I read it, all it said was that T-64B1 lacks the Kobra kit and has the TPD-K1. I personally haven't seen a T-64B1 with TPD-K1, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. I've also not encountered mentions of such vehicles in texts. I assumed all T-80s with the old glacis were early ...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

The T-80 is a strange one, in that I've seen photos of tanks with the original glacis (splash plate etc.) with a different turret. If this was standard it might be a late production variant. Which T-80 variant are we talking about? If it is the base T-80 version then there are a number of options. ...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

Weren't LRF put earlier on T-55 and 62? IMO, having the T-55 LRF and 62 Obr 1975 (1975 IIRC) at CAT- C should be enough for the era. KTD-1 was put onto T-55s and 62s in the mid 70s and got quickly superseded by KTD-2, but in case of T-55s for example they received smoke discharges, updated parts an...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

Cut Making a distinction between T-55 and T-55A is a rather pointless. Actual differences were minimal in terms of those that affect the game and wargame doesn't make use of T-55s driver coax (or any coax). Arguably a there is noticeable difference for wargame between T-55A obr. 62 and T-55A obr. 8...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

Ah that's a shame. Here I was dreaming about a T-64A with 50% accuracy at 2100m-2275m. It's definitely something to keep in mind for Wargame 4 if it ever happens though, the T-64 line could provide a capable line of post 1980 gun tanks from the T-64A -> T-64AV -> T-64B1 -> T-64B1M -> T-64BV1. All w...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

Yeah I've seen some sources refer to the T-72 Obr 1978 as a preproduction T-72A, being T-72A Obr 1978. It could be the same guys calling transitional T-72A (1983) a T-72B. From the standpoint of production nomenclature and bookkeeping that I know of, that is wrong. Did the T-64A receive the 1G42 be...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

Last production variants of the T-72 Ural actually had T-72A turrets if I remember correctly. I was looking at what could be done about the low end Gen 2's in the Soviet deck and found that weirdly the T-72 Ural actually had more growth potential in the context of low Gen 2 CatC's when compared to ...

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

That contract went belly up mid-way and we ended up with a batch of T-72S's.

Re: T-72 line authenticity errors in W:RD

T-72M and M1 are another fight on their own (lots of modifications depending on the year), but basically in terms of effectiveness it should be: T-72 Ural =< T-72M < T-72A = T-72M1. T-72M is more like late production T-72 Ural with new turret and TPD-1K sight. Original doc: http://i.imgur.com/oJWP1...
