Re: Islamic State/Coalition Bombing Mega Thread

It was parked supply truck fulled with ammo. Any info about F-22s in the area? Are they still in the air, even through Russia deployed S-400? Russia isn't going to shoot down any aircraft flying over Syria they are unlikely to lock onto any aircraft last thing they want is a volley of HARMs heading...

Re: Islamic State/Coalition Bombing Mega Thread

Russian frigate in Aegean sea was crossed (?) by approaching Turkish fishing vessel (possibly a disguised spy). Naval small arms were used "at the distance of guaranteed survivability of the target in order to prevent the collision of the ships". http://eng.mil.ru/en/news_page/country/more...

Looks like Western Coalition indeed did stop bombing Syria.

So it seems "Pentagon-MO RF" agreement is just a division of spheres of infuence: they don't bomb Syria, we don't bomb Iraq, isn't it?

Re: Islamic State/Coalition Bombing Mega Thread

You really haven't addressed my core concern though, Kolovrat. How does bombing willing martyrs and IS logistics lines in the Holy Land equate to preventing terrorism being exported to Russian borders? It's a fundamentally flawed approach, something NATO found out the hard way for the last 15 years...

Re: Islamic State/Coalition Bombing Mega Thread

Russia's goal is to fight tertorists. No. That may be a tertiary claimed benefit but it is not the goal, the goal is to sustain a militarily allied regime and arms client and deny the geopolitical space to the West. (not that I blame Putin for wanting this, every state acts in their interests over ...

Re: Islamic State/Coalition Bombing Mega Thread

I mean let's analyze the logic of this. Russia and Assad's preoccupation has been with bombing rebels that have nothing to do with the Islamic State. Russia claims to bomb IS, but most of the targets are confirmed to be nowhere near IS territory. Syria then, with Russian support, launches a ground ...
