Re: More Painfully Boring Games Recently?

I kind of like the idea of planes using some form of supplies (maybe only ammo tho, not fuel). This will make it a tactical decision to blow up some cheap that's an easy mark, like a recce squad, rather than a no-brainer. Engaging 5 guys with 4 1000kg bombs or super expensive paveways never made muc...

You can reach a conclusion, but it will be subjective and (therefore) have a high probability of being the wrong one.

Re: Statistics and the problem with "post a replay"

Or are you asking Eugen to publish all their data? Good idea!!!! Assuming they have the data, which I don't think they do. Nothing wrong with publishing cool data that doesn't help the competition in the slightest (yet only serves to make the devs cooler in the eyes of the community). EVE Online do...

Re: Statistics and the problem with "post a replay"

As someone who deal with statistics basically daily (more specifically biostatistics), OP Is completely right. Most threads contribute very little to answering many of the problems they claim to have solutions for. As someone who deals with research daily, nothing is proven until you have an experi...

Re: Statistics and the problem with "post a replay"

Why are you confident that Eugen has good statistics regarding unit use and analysis on OP/UP strategies? If they do, they have never hinted at such a thing (looking at PACT/NATO and their respective victory ratios is no such hint). What I want is to suggest (much) more emphasis on quantitative data...

Re: Statistics and the problem with "post a replay"

Perhaps dated, but this post clearly shows that Eugen do indeed look at statistics: Pact / NATO victory ratio in ranked is presently at 48% / 52%. So it is quite even ... The value of replays is that it illustrates the strengths and weaknesses of different tactics in a practical way. Posting a repl...

Statistics and the problem with "post a replay"

A number of things which are debated on this forum are about reasonable-to-high skilled players who have issues with certain styles of play that give a significant yet subtle advantage to the opponent. An example of this is the CatC airspam discussion. (A non-example would be something like helicopt...

Re: Nighthawks need fixing

Why is this thread about the nighthawk and not about "omg my choppers are getting bombed  "

It's not like that is a nighthawk-exclusive capability. Far from it, actually.

Re: Sappers....

, a 5 Man squad with 0.25HE ( don't forget flame deal extra passive damage ), same price/suppression/ammo, less ROF and more aiming time should do the trick for me. Line/shock/elite must be your main infantry meanwhile specialized troops like sapper/tank hunter/MANPAD must remain as support to help...

Re: Sappers....

Best solution (imo) would be:

Equate sappers to riflemen (or equivalent for other nations) with flamethrower instead of M72. Problem solved, cost can stay the same.

Edit: Obviously the range of the flamethrower would be ~90 meters or whatever and CQC.
