How about you post some source? For now I could only find one incident, during which the gun unintentionally discharged into the ground and is now undergoing a technical check.

Probably some decade old MP5s with lack of proper spare parts, because budgetary reasons. Lower Saxony in fact is buying / bought already old guns in second hand from other federal states. But that isn't a first either among some of the poorer state's police forces...

The german Police Special Forces got a new toy, the Survivor R. The Saxon PD is the latest one to get it. Including a specia feature, the Police Markings can be flipped down so the vehicle can be used in undercover operations.

This thing...

"We don't want to be noticed prematureley and give the perps a chance to get ready"

and then you see this

Nice to see the new government with a bit of backbone for once...

Looks like old Trumpilstitskin has taken a page off the Bushes book and done the old "With us or against us" blabbelrey, because that worked out SO WELL last time.

Self-inflicted diplomatic dick punches are the order of the day.

The Trump/neocon folks are stuck in the world of 1998. The US is not a super-duper invincible hyperpower anymore. We threw that away in the Iraqi desert in 2003, and the enormous number of countries that either voted against the US or abstained is a fine example of the fact that the US is not entirely indispensable anymore. Fucking Canada abstained.

Who was on side? Israel, semi-worthless islands, effectively US vassals, in the pacific, and fucking Guatemala.

Fuck, at least Poland invaded Iraq with us.

Looking back on it with ISIS almost out of the picture, Iraq seems to be stable enough for now. My take is that if we go in to topple dictatorial regimes we should at least nation build before leaving. While Obama at least delivered on part of his promise to pull out of Iraq, I feel that was a mistake. Since we left behind a rather corrupt nation which ran off favoritism, ie appointing higher ranking military based on political standing rather than experience and training. Obviously you cant have zero corruption or totally wipe it out, however feel we didn't establish enough to stabilize the region enough to prevent things like ISIS from popping up. People are quick to forget Germany, South Korea, and Japan are successful cases of nation building.

While the Neocons goofed up Iraq, its easy to also forget how Bill Clinton had laid the foundation with the Iraqi liberation act and operation desert shield. Or how Saddam kept kicking out UN inspectors and at some point in time had possessed actual chemical weapons. Yet some conspiracies continue to persist or evolve like Bush administration purposely blocking the UN inspectors from entering Iraq, Gates making up claims of WMDs, Rumsfeld gave weapons to Saddam, Iraq was invaded for oil, Iraq was invaded because of Bush family oil interests, etc. There are also newer conspiracies about the recent actions in Syria such as Obama/Clintons/Soros funding and supplying terrorist/insurgent groups to destabilize the region, or that the Syrian chemical attacks were staged to trick Trump/Obama intro attacking the, etc.

Also the amount of stuff the alt-right and the far left put out about the Middle east is getting ridiculous. The support for Assad is rather disgusting in addition to the people who defend Saddam. Even if the US hadn't invaded Iraq, Saddam would have had to deal with the Arab spring at some point or later. Saddam was also genocidal, a war monger-er(not that we are any better), and a despot. Assad is no better, a despot, and a man who has lost all legitimacy to his people and has brought desirability to his home country. Yet tankies think they should stand with Assad because globalism is bad, and the alt right thinks they should stand with Assad because they think middle easterners are savages who need to be lead by despots to remain under control.

Personally I think we should focus on stabilize affected regions in the Middle East, and help develop their infrastructure and economies. Should help reduce the flow of refugees and number of people being displaced by conflict, also reduce the likely hood of conflicts.
