Games in October

Postby Misfit » Tue 2 Oct 2012 17:50

War of the Roses and XCOM will be released this month. Anyone getting them? War of the Roses has pretty mixed previews, i think ill pass on that one for now and probably grab it later if it turns out to be good. XCOM however is a sure thing for me, i have read nothing but positive previews about it and from what i know it will be a good mix of difficulty and management, something that other sequels clearly missed. And its XCOM after all.

I was expecting War of the Roses ... until I discovered it had no campaign mode like Warband, just FPS deathmatch.

I was interested in war of the roses, but "Chivalry: medieval warfare" seems to be closer to what I'm looking for.

Been in WotR closed beta.... difference between chain mail an full plate were minimal in terms of mobility and stamina...
blocking is not real time so you have to reblock if enemy swings at you from other side...
certain swords (even the big ones) and polearms can swing with ROF of MG43 with right perks...
collision with friendlies is done bad (and cluster happen constantly) ect

But they were constantly buffing and nerfing in terms of finding the right balance.

Ammount of customization and level of details are awesome...
Xbow mechanics feels awesome
Archery is nice
Your weapon and shield can brake
Helmets obstruct your FOV and you can toggle visor on and off

There is like execution animation... some sort of evolution of tea bagging... can make things quite personal sometimes

Fat shark took a bite that they can't chew easily so give WotR some time... spring sale on steam should do. If anyone has any questions about it ask away.

It should have one... trivial one but there should be. MP has team deathmach, capture the flag, Battlefield conquest... they will even add castle sieges when they figure it out how to do it in a fun way.
