50 years from now ...

Postby [EUG]MadMat » Sat 13 Aug 2011 13:40

... to the day, was built what would become the very symbol of the Cold War ... and its end: the Berlin Wall.

Built during the night of August, 12th to 13th, the Berliners would only discovered it on the morning, separating the city in two parts (which already existed before, but were now more tightly separated).

I went to Berlin in early 1990, less than six montes after November, 9th, and took my own bag of "pieces of the Wall" while it was still there but for a few crossing points opened in it. I still have several of them ... :)

Nice!! Did you encounter any NATO troops on maneuvers, or members of Berlin Brigades?

Nope.
I was only 11 at the time, but already more interested in Warsaw Pact troops, for I'd bought a Soviet soldier hat that I still have today and is now exposed at Eugen studio ... :)
