Well, yeah, because it was safer to be on the outside if they hit a mine. Not like they rode M48s straight at NVA machine gun nests.

Guys on M113s was also a matter of dismounting and getting into the fight quickly in an ambush. Also in restricted environments more eyes outside the vehicle works best.

I don't care, I love it, the armor is pefect (once angled and at long distance it's almost impossible to penetrate), beside from far away traverse speed doesn't matter.

The B-17 has a fuselage of cardboard and wings of the finest American tissue paper.
