AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire

Postby cplfernandez » Tue 22 Oct 2013 08:32

I was hoping someone here would have better luck at finding the introduction and development date of this missile than I did. I was able to find out that the k was introduced in the early 90's. So does anybody know much about this missiles development?

I'm curious based on the impact it could have on Red Dragon based on the Date of its development.

Also I believe the K variant has greater range than the previous variants can anyone confirm this?

The Longbow Hellfire started firing tests in 1994, with service entry in 1998.

The J and K-models were more accurate than the standard hellfire, with a better seeker and reprogrammable autopilot (selectable top/side attack) and a larger warhead. Range was a little increased since the new components were lighter.

Ingame a cannot see any improvement with the current missile mechanics and with magical fire&forget SALH Hellfires. If introduced properly it would be the most effective anti-tank platform, since it can locate the enemy targets and supress the most common AA threats.

I can't find anything on the L model in that post. It talks about the k model but the L had the ability for radar guidance.
