I remember back in Battlefield 2, weapon unlocks were just side dishes, barely makes you a stronger player (other than the sniper rifle)... and then bf3 and 4 came around with their stupid progressions
and now this battlefront 2, they want you have a sense of achievement. Dude, I toil enough in daily life, i dont want to toil more in a video game....

People complain there isn't enough to do if they don't have things to constantly unlock. Apparently people said BF1 didn't have enough to do unlock in the game to keep you playing. Because playing because you just enjoy the game doesn't make any sense.

BF1 felt like a big shooting gallery to me with people running around shooting each other at not much else. No battle lines or tactics, just chaotic mess crammed into fishbowl. Everyone gets an MP18 or some sort of automatic weapon/obscure/prototype only/weapon, no nation/faction specific load outs.

Other than that, it seems like all devs put most of the focus into things that only appeal to investors at E3 and people who like to go over the top. For example a lot of the effort seemed to go into graphics with realistic looking textures: just look at all the motion blur and bloom, a lot of mud/blood/grit plastering your screen, all those silly wall climb animations and "tacticool" sliding across the floor animations.

All this just to target to a certain demographics like the dudebro and the xX420DankmemerXx.

Apparently the satisfaction of capturing Wake Island in 1942 with your friends isn't there anymore and neither or having a big lan party against the AI on Battlefront. Also do not forget how mods like Forgotten Hope and Project Reality have kept the older titles alive much longer than DLC has kept BF4 and BF Hardline alive.

Don't forget those older games also had dedicated servers, which allow for a server community to grow and thrive.

My cousin keeps trying to sell COD WW2 to me saying you can do D day on multiplayer, but I've just got an image of Americans and Germans running around with stg44s, scoped BAR and akimbo handguns while screaming abuse at other players. I can't be bothered with that anymore its not fun its not realistic and frankly it has sod all to do with ww2.

The fact you can play as a black woman in German uniform also raises the question if the developers actually understand WW2 hell the U.S. army still had segregation.

Despite all what you mention, COD WWII is actually kind of fun, like.. It's enjoyable mindless fun, and that "D-day in multiplayer" is really neato due to the cinematics and way the game does it, feels like a single player D-day experience packed into an Overwatch style MP game mode.. If only it could've been done on a magnified scale with historical accuracy in mind, then, and only then would it have been truly mindblowing.. 6v6 with allied AI storming the beach kills the mood a bit, that on top of quickscoping, SMGs for days, everyone and their mother using an STG, total immersion killers!

My buddies and I though.. We decided to start roleplaying when we play that 'War' gamemode lol.. We make faction specific classes, talk in horrible accents, blame gypsies for lag (because why not, we obviously don't mean it) which kinda makes it a bit more enjoyable.. For instance we almost only use ironsight (maybe slap FMJ and grip to remain competitive as it doesn't change aesthetic of the gun) Kar98 and M1 Garand unless we're creating a semi-realistic character or have a specific plan like, we need a sniper and an MG-42 team, I made up a character who's a grizzled veteran of the Eastern front who was recently transfered to the West and weilds an SVT-40 as a sort of war trophy (fuck me that sounds so lame, but it's made the game more fun for me)

It's pretty odd how many females and black people there are in the game, in the HQ where you get daily challenges n shit, you get em from this "Major Howard" fella and the first thing I said when I hopped on the game with all my friends was "there's no fucking way in hell a black man would be a Major in the army in 1944!"

But hey, it's CoD, and not just any CoD, but one of the new politically correct CoDs

just thinking about that and this https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/10/ ... eld-games/
still makes me mad. I didn't want to ride the hate EA bandwagon, but EA keeps giving me reasons to keep riding for all these years.

Boy, EA might have overstepped it a little.

One of the reasons I reckon Squad was being made, reckon EA kept trying to C&D Project Reality...

The open beta test for the new Brutal DooM is out. It's so much more... brutal. Seems like most of the guns are even more lethal, some of the enemies got extra tricks to make them more vicious as well (Pinkies are no longer freebies to Smash Mode on), and it just feels harder overall. I'm even more hooked.

Plus... TANKS IN DOOM!

Isn't Belgium and another country looking into EA doing the "gaming online casino" bit as well?

I'm laughing way too hard at this.
