On one particular occasion, I wanted to use an empty VAB to scout, but the chatter when I selected it was " tell my wife I love her" ; I executed him immediatly with fire pos for criticizing the high-command strategy I felt like a douchebag and sent it him back to base instead.
Strangely, I tend to think of the units in terms of lives : I'll be sadder if I loose a platoon of line infantry than a pair of T80s.
But I've sacrificed too much units to buy some time or bait the ennemy to say that I really care about my troops, though.
Sympathy for Units

It breaks my heart to see one of my Leopard2A4s get knocked out.
Everytime I see a sabot tracer or missile arc towards a low HP Leopard2A4:
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GET OUTTA THERE!!!!!!!"
***ALERT!!! LEOPARD2A4 DESTROYED!!!***
"WHYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!"
*cries inside*

Re: Sympathy for Units
ill have you know that Leo 2s have consistently smitten back wave after wave of communists ranging from lowly T72M to T72BUs with just today some of my base Leo 2s taking on T64BVs and gloriously claiming victory. Although i do have to say, i treat my T64s (especially BV1s
) the best of all redfor tanks.

Sometimes, when my army isn't performing, I call in a company of riflemen and napalm them as an example to the others.

'Captain Jones, take your SBS and scout that forest for hostile forces.'

Re: Sympathy for Units
Couldn't think of another place to put this, and didn't want to make a new thread... I decided to play a 10v10 for kicks, and a 4-stack of Scorpions attempted to drive directly by one of my T-72Bs. Didn't even fire, just scooted on by; I imagine the Soviet crew would be pretty perplexed

That would be a case of having no sympathy for ones units. Perhaps had the weapon systems turned off?

Re: Sympathy for Units
For high end units, I can get attached to them briefly, but generally in game I'm too busy microing to really think about them. However, in a really intense battle where I note a unit that does really well, I'll go and watch the replay. I get into rooting for my own troops then. I'll be cheering when they break and route an enemy assault, and cringing then I see a missile incoming. Half the time I'm wondering what it'd be like if I was right there in the middle of it all...
