Awaiting arrival of new MBTs

Postby SpeisCheese » Tue 24 Feb 2015 17:56

LIVE seeing the new tanks!

-I'm awaiting for the military parade in Russia, because a new MBT will be shown, and after looking some fanmade contents, I would like to see how it really looks and if statistically it can outperform European MBTs...
Here some fan-made concepts:

ImageThis is a different design but I'm pretty sure this one won't be seen...

-After Nexter and KNW merged, I really hope to see a new MBT design before 2020(which naturally won't happen because European cooperations take too much time). But I hope that the franco-german tank will be a success, not like the NH90...

-Then we got murica. Any ideas about a new tank? M1A3? M2? I'm pretty sure this one is going to be more expensive than the Leopard 2, Leclerc and K2 together  because of "stealth" technology.

If there are any other stories about new MBTs coming in the next year, then you can write it in the comments section then, so anyone can be informed about.

Hoped for a new MBT, because the M1 doesn't get younger...

I hate it how cult of Leopard 2 says that the Abrams is too old when their tank entered service in 1979 when the Abrams entered service in 1980. Pretty much all the current MBTs are fine, upgrading them is the way to go.

It seems like Russia has too mbt's anyway, they are still using the T-80 series, the aging T-72 series, and the T-90 series of tanks. From what I remember the Armata was supposed be like some sort of afv chasis that could be converted into either an MBT, an IFV, SPG, or a SPAAG.

Even when upgrading, the Leopard 2 is still an old concept. Wouldn't it be better to have even a newer(and hopefully better) tank?

Word is that Russia is going to replace its T-80s With Armatas in the coming years... that's roughly 800-1500 units (depending on who you ask). I think their plan is to have Armata and T-90 as their primary "Frontline" tank forces... with modernized t-72s (or T-72s modernized to a quasi-T-90 std) in reserve.

Still, having over 2500 Very Modern MBTs (as that's how many T-90s and Armata they wish to have by 2025) is still notable... and far more capable than any other European or Central Asian power.

Time will tell...

I hear the Armata is to appear in this years Victory day parade... or that is what the Russian Defense minister and chief operating officer at Uralvagonzavod are saying. My bet we will only see 2-4 of the new tank, and maybe a few other variants.
