I'll believe it when a bunch of them are broken down at Fort Bragg.

The US Army always has all sorts of different toys that they are interested in. Right now supposedly the thing they are eyeballing now is a Bushmaster Stryker. Well, a 30mm gun instead of 25mm, but you get the idea.

Think you have what it takes to enlist into the military? You sure about that?

I saw the turret stuck on a Bradley last year at the AUSA conference. It's still a Bushmaster, but it's a Bushmaster II like you'd find on the CV9030.

Hell of a boost over the 12.7 and apparently it doesn't penetrate the hull at all. Super neato.

Bradley and Stryker LOSAT sound cool.

Deader than Ustinov.

With all the toys out there for blasting apart tanks as is, LOSAT just isn't needed.

What about some sort of avenger like system for the Bradley or Stryker?

Army has made a few desperate attempts to get the M8 AGS back going. Things went as far as a request for four or so of the pre-production vehicles to be shipped over to one of the airborne divisions in Iraq IIRC. Then it fell off the radar again.

Now the Army has yet another study (Mobile Protected Firepower) going on which will probably draw up requirements for a vehicle a lot like a modernized M8. Then it will probably be cancelled.

LOSAT became CKEM which seems to have died sometime in the mid to late 2000s. The technology will probably be worth revisiting due to the increased important of countering active protection systems. In many ways it would have been a good TOW replacement but the lack of secondary capabilities provided by a HEAT warhead is a problem, no specialized HE variants either.

Ideally we could develop some sort of common launcher that could fire both a hypervelocity KE anti-armor missile and a more traditional SACLOS design.
When in doubt blame UGBEAR.

Money will change hands, GDP figures will be created, the procurement system works....
