US supercarrier sunk by French submarine

ok, it was during a joint exercise, the USS Roosevelt and his carrier group playing the good guys and the Rubis-class nuclear attack submarine Saphir playing the bad guy. Apparently, it wasn't funny for the carrier group, half of it got sunk along with the carrier...

I'd have preferred a UK group (coz Mers el-Kébir etc) but still...

Reminds me of another exercise. Man, subs are sneaky.

I'm sure you'll get a chance soon enough, just need to wait for us to build the carriers for you to sink.

Isn't sinking an American carrier a rite of passage for NATO, Australian, and Chilean submarines?

I saw somewhere that an Australian submarine sank 2 US amphibious assault ships, while in water that was no deeper than the submarine was long.

Not so sure: your budget cuts are much more leathal to your armed forces than any foreign army or navy could.
Soon, there won't be anything British to sink ... :(

Hey they got the choice to fight the Germans they chose not too if the French fleet had not been sunk you would be speaking German right now. It's a shame really all those lives wasted also that fleet would have made fighting the Germans at sea a lot easier.
