I can't sit in the backseat of a lot of cars though and I'm 6'0. I hit my head in a Mustang and a Pontiac G6.

Add another 6 inches to your height and you'll discover how uncomfortable it is. I'm right in the height bracket where everything starts to suck, from finding clothes that fit to cars that I'm comfortable in.

I can imagine. I'm 6'3'' (192cm) and thats at the very border of what stuff is designed for. I can still travel on budget airlines, but with absolutely no margins. I feel pinned in the seat.

Oh, and even at my height, some cars are give are not a good match. Sometimes, my head is just barely going clear of the roof. On others, the speedometer and rev dials are not readable. Recently I tried a BMW 2 series (seriously, its like a VW Golf but costs NOK 500000,-) and the fancy HUD display was unreadable from my angle.

Leg room is another big thing for me. If I'm driving long distance, I gotta be able to stretch my legs out every so often.

as a british guy, its hard for me to admit but id go for a ford. loved my old fiesta, mainly because i kept it running through my blood sweat and tears but it was relatively easy to work on and after i dropped the suspension on it it was the best handling car i've driven to date. the 1.6 zetec has a decent pull to it as well, i have to say this is a european version of ford.

went from my ford to a vw golf 2.0 gti, bought the wrong one though, it was N/A not turboed so that didn't last long as it didn't justify the petrol it drank

got a jap toyota celica 1.8 vvtli gt after that, it nice, comfy, quick but after having it for 6 months and changing the oil every 2 months due to it drinking it all, it decided to dump all the oil it had into its cylinders and then weld the tappets shut as well as damage the piston rings and bottom end. i was really disappointed with it as its a good drive and i didn't abuse it, much , but i always gave it good care, i expected reliability with a jap car.

since the celica is sitting in my driveway acting as a very heavy and expensive paperweight i picked up a cheap audi 80 B3, its a auto and isn't a quattro so its no exciting but it will do until i can get a new engine and a supercharger for the celica
if the audi impresses me i may even look into getting a 2.3 5 pot quattro engine for it, that would spice it up

in conclusion, US car for the euro market

My previous and first car was a 54 plate Corsa, because of that car, I have an unnatural hate towards all Corsas.

In the same week as its MOT was due while driving to work the air con failed, suspension was dying, exhaust was blowing and the engine tore itself apart without warning.

The crankshaft snapped and tore out some valves then forced em back in. It didn't half make me jump
