I like the "defcon" system from AoA, it'd be neat to see the battle ramp up from light units and progressively get "heavier".

It would solve a lot of bullshit like people starting with ATACMS/Smerches or rushing with superheavies.

Real military units are organized into advance guards, forward detachments and main forces. It makes no sense to have immediate access to M1A2s and T-90s when you're in a meeting engagement where you don't know where the enemy is.

The 2nd ACR was acting as a forward recon element, so yes you're right. But 73 Easting was far larger than any Wargame engagement. If you only have a couple platoons of heavy tanks as in a Wargame deck, it makes no sense to use them as forward recon, when you don't know what the enemy has or where they are.

Static defenses would be dumb though. Defending is easy enough as it is.

There is plenty you can do to make defending harder, static defenses or not.

It'd be cool for asymmetric game modes that you could play with people just for fun.

Not without changing how the game works on a fundamental level or adding more indirect firepower, which, judging by the bitching and moaning artillery produces already, would go over like a lead balloon.

Or just have better maps and re-work optics to not favor defensive play.

Fundamental changes rite dar, rite dar.
