Uhh may I interest you in a much more convenient one party system?

Sounds like a lot can get done, but its extremely terrible system if bad dudes take over. Like fascists, national socialists, a military junta, baathists, religious crazies, communists, authoritarian people mostly. A government run by entirely social democrats, altrighters, neoliberals, neoconservatives, teaparty would be pretty bad since there would be no one to keep them in check.

As catastrophic a day for the GOP as it could've been.

I hated how Ed Gillespie ran his race anyways.

There's still liberal butthurt over Trump feeding those damn fish. I don't even. Shit like this has me convinced we can only keep going downhill from here.

You had, what ~150 million views on some of this stuff?

Sources please. How much of this "stuff" was American made? Russian made? Greek made? From somewhere else? This is what I really want, raw data on where all of this stuff came from. Even if you "fix" the Russian problem, there's still plenty of sources from outside Russia that are peddling this alt-right wing nonsense.

That's all different, because those are all top-down media. You have one dude in a studio, or an editorial committee, setting the agenda. It's obvious that it's from those people because you hear Rush's voice on the radio, or you see the names of the editors right on the back page, or just because of what they are. Facebook and twitter are allegedly made up of random folks, some of whom you know, giving unfiltered opinions in an informal space. People, especially people who don't actively seek out information, are much more likely to believe stuff from some person just like them than a celebrity.

You are ignoring how these chain emails, Myspace shenanigans, etc are far from being "one dude in a studio."

The Russians didn't invent any of the controversies, they just pumped up the jam and made them believable through sheer volume.

I'm aware of that, but how much were they responsible for pumping up the volume? The sheer amount of fake news was and still is coming from a load of different sources. This is also why I think we need to focus more on home grown propaganda rather than Russian influence. As you said, they are not exactly original, the stuff from Russia, Eastern Europe, Asia, etc is just stealing ideas from the right wing here and running with it. Personally I think attacking the source could be more productive.

Of course, with how polarized politics are... who knows how much success we could have in that.

I'm convinced that if CTR had access to similar resources they would've had a similar impact, but they didn't.

CTR was pretty focused, and that was on Bernie supporters. Plenty Bernie "Bros" were regularly harassed and quickly whenever we voiced our opinions on preferring him over HRC. The responses were pretty copypasta, ie "sexist sexist sexist!"

Russia itself is much easier to deal with than 50+ million American citizens who would rather believe random people on the internet than anything else.

Oh do tell...

No it wasn't. Not until the GOP loses both the House and the Senate is it going to get "catastrophic."

Okay, I was wrong- only 125 million views.

You are ignoring how these chain emails, Myspace shenanigans, etc are far from being "one dude in a studio."

They were also incredibly niche and didn't get very far due to the nature of the platforms. Myspace was tiny compared to Facebook. Email chains don't spread as easily as facebook posts, by design.

CTR was pretty focused, and that was on Bernie supporters. Plenty Bernie "Bros" were regularly harassed and quickly whenever we voiced our opinions on preferring him over HRC. The responses were pretty copypasta, ie "sexist sexist sexist!"

CTR was too small to have an impact, no matter what they said. This stuff is all about volume of posts- making people believe that other people believe what they're pushing too.

Oh do tell...

How do you effectively deal with Russian propaganda? Point it out before it takes hold. Counter it through facts and propaganda of your own.

How do you deal with 50 million people who would rather believe anything bad about them libruls than anything their own eyes can show them?

No it wasn't. Not until the GOP loses both the House and the Senate is it going to get "catastrophic."

With the exception of Utah, it was as bad as it could have been. Two governors, all the VA state elected officials, flipping red state seats in GA and Washington, loads of local officials. The GOP lost almost everything they could lose yesterday.

Lmao @ Fox hysterically trying to avoid talking about it.

Oh Air Force, can you please stop making the news...
A black student wrote those racist messages that shook the Air Force Academy, school says

Unfortunately that does not even come close to providing the answers I seek.

Yeah, as I said, CTR was pretty focused. They had one job only, to spread this "Bernie Bros are sexist!" bullshit. There propaganda only helped make HRC look even more toxic to me.

Oh do tell...

Stop and think about what you just wrote there. Realize that, as you said, they are merely repeating what they are already spreading themselves. Doesn't matter if it's an American or a Russian saying it to them, to the r/t_d crowd its still an American message and they don't care. Also, if you want to go CTR on a larger scale, that's simply going to piss people like me off. You want to push hard facts and raw data? Detailed analysis, that sort of thing? Cool, that's awesome in my book. Throwing out misleading or dishonest information and taking a page right from Putin? No, no, and hell no. CTR is one of the things that helped make the HRC campaign insanely hypocritical to me, endorsing the repeating of such things again I will only condemn.

No it wasn't. Not until the GOP loses both the House and the Senate is it going to get "catastrophic."

Until the Congress has the GOP majorities rolled out, this is still far from catastrophic. It is a nice start, but still small potatoes.

I bet if teleported them back in time as a large tobacco plantation owner they would become pro-slavery and worst of all... registered democrats.
