Bastille Day 2016

Postby [EUG]MadMat » Wed 13 Jul 2016 19:51

Tomorrow is Bastille Day, public holiday in France.

And as usual, we will have the military parade on the Champs Elysées.
But what's new this year is that Australian & New-Zealand troops have been invited to participate and even open the parade, as a tribute to their troops' involvement in the battle of the Somme, in 1916. And not because Australia placed a record order for submarines with our DCNS, as some evil gossipers are trying to imply ... Image

Therefore, the Champs are already invaded by Kiwis and Aussies rehearsing their parade. Paris is not safe anywhere! :o
Remind me of that:

Some French TV news on the matter:

It's worth holding a parade just to celebrate the fact that France is one of the last nations in Europe with enough troops to fill out a parade. German troops would run out of gas on the way or have to wear sneakers because they ran out of combat boots.

Happy Bastille Day

Tactical sneakers are a proud and noble thing, just ask the 75th.

Poland and Greece, biggest armies in Europe. I wonder what folks a hundred years ago would've thought about that.

It's a standard defensive procedure.

New-Zealand Army seems to be in an even worst shape though, they don't even have sneakers or even uniforms left for their troops to parade!

At least, I hope that with that many Aussies & Kiwis on our soil tomorrow, we will be able to organize a military rugby tournament.
That would be just what we need to wash out that dirty aftertaste after one month of being daily force-fed with boring football ...

Amen to that, I am so thankful that eventually finished, can't wait for rugby back to Olympics!

Is there any link to watch the military parade?
