Is there not another middle east country in there to be red? How about Egypt or Syria? Or are they too weak?

Syria and Egypt are both somewhat better than NSWP in terms of equipment, training is another matter altogether.

Syria has very close ties to the USSR, and they were able to buy T-72A rather than T-72M. Out of all the nations, Syria and India are the ones most likely to have T-90S.

Egypt would have a "high-low" situation, where the low end consists of your standard redfor export stuff, and the high end be USA supplied after the Camp David accords, things like M1A1, M270, M109A5 (somewhat improved version), and F-16's. With looser modeling criteria, you can give the Egyptian M1A1s the M829A2 (as a major non-NATO ally, they can buy DU rounds).

Iran domestically produces their own version of the MG3, meaning it would have inferior stats because they are Iran.

(Just like the K3 LMG used by Haybung '90; a clone of the Minimi, but inferior because South Koreans are holding it.)

Egyptian-Syrian UAR coalition would work... except after 1979 Egypt is BLUFOR.

As for BLUFOR Iraq... really? Yeah, some mirages and Bo-105d and whatnot, but they were almost entirely armed by the Chinese and Soviets. Scuds? T-72Ms? BMP-2s, Mi-24s, Su-25s, MiGs...

It would be bizarre to have them on the same side as Iran OR anyone in the west. However, given finland, maybe we can have a Franco-Iraqi coalition?

A Saudi-Kuwaiti ANZAC type deal wouldn't be the worst either.

I think Iran would be much better in a Modern Wargame, less in a Cold War one. They're isolated and they didn't have access to much equipment, their issues during Iraq-Iran war are well known. In last decade they developed local designs but almost none was developed in Cold War timeframe.

In Middle East, Syria, Irak and Egypt would be much more interesting.

Would be good in a coalition say Syria, Iraq, Iran as an anti Israel coalition its the best chance a middle east coalition has against Israel's F15 and F16s

Iran and Iraq in a coalition? I kind of doubt that it would have been possible ... :|
