It's been crazy three years since the Trump election and realize now wrong I was about the world. Looking at anecdotal evidence based on what my friends and family say, what people only say and looking at populations online such as those on reddit that I and others were only lying to themselves up until 2016.

Looking at trends such as bots, paid trolls operating under the direction such as Russia, nationalists of all types, and even leftists It seems we are looking at the next stage of geopolitical affairs. The alt-right who claims to hate the new left has a lot more in common with them than would like to admit such as hating establishment liberals and forming some kind of twisted red/brown alliance. Also because of these actions and groups, political discussion is now forever tainted with terms such as dog whistle, identity politics, and variety of other terms.

In an ironic way, fascism did come to the US wrapped in an american flag and a cross; but it came to the whole west as well. Brexit and a number of movements such as the yellow vests have been co-opted by nationalist and radical movements seeking to get attention and create as much division as possible in the western hemisphere. All thanks to the online manipulation of countries such as China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia to make up for their weaknesses to gain strength by manipulating people in the west through nationalism and silly conspiracies.

Perhaps the most damaging domestically is a renewed acceptance of racist beliefs such as the great replacement theory and the bell curve, as well as a greater acceptance of anti-antisemitism. The generation that grew up making 9/11 jokes is now ones indoctrinating the next through charismatic people such as blackpigeon, sargonakkad, thunderfoot, and pewdiepie.

Thinking back on what delfo and others have said, he was right about where things were heading.

There is a New Left to speak of in the US? And yes just maintaining democracy looks like a worthy and challenging political programme nowadays.

It's more of a big tent ideology. I'd say what makes them a problem is their strong isolationist stances which allows countries like Russia and China to go unopposed.

Looking at the far-right, there has been without a doubt a growing level of violence being committed by variety of groups. https://www.propublica.org/article/atom ... hate-group
https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate ... n-division

You have a funnel that attracts the socially isolated, gamers, libertarians/anarcho capitalists, and niche communities into a web through a number of topics such as immigration, historical events such as Rhodesia, and fabricated stories/misinformation. Just take anyone with problems and get them all pumped up on hatred and feed them enough lies to get them to go do crazy things and soon you got problems. Looking groups like atomwaffen and the people behind the mass shootings in New Zealand made me realize that fade2grey was right that these groups would be more dangerous because of their willingness to follow through with threats of violence. What seems to keep these far right groups all unified is a distrust of globalism, western liberalism, and racist views brought about by pseudo intellectuals. Also anti-antisemitism and xenophobia tied in with that racism.

In terms of indoctrination:
https://www.cbinsights.com/research/fut ... n-warfare/

I think it will become more of issue in the future with the ability to create rumors easily with deep fake technology and an army of bots and paid trolls to fabricate information which fuels these groups.

We can blame foreigners all we want, but we all know that the cause for most of these problems have been from here, grown here.

Since the 1980's we've been digging a hole for ourselves, now the rain has come and we're all getting flooded. Sure China and Russia an piss down it all they like and laugh at us. But to say that this was their fault is disingenuous at best!

The past few mass killings have been from people, born bred and indoctrinated from within the country.

Hate speakers such as Milo, Sargon, Jones and Molyneux were not foreigners, influenced or indoctrinated by foreigners, it's not foreigners who are attending their rallies and buying their merch, it's not foreigners who are giving these individuals a platform to spread lies, openly and plainly advertising their works.

Billion dollar lobbies, openly and plainly tampering with politics, are not foreign owned, the Zionist lobby, NRA, Mormon church, Scientology, etc... are all home grown.

Hell look into any social media, you'll find people stating how proud they are to allow nazi rallies, how it's a right a politician to openly lobby for an ethnostate. Try to talk about inequalities within your country, growing violence an rhetoric or the fact that many from within out society are getting marginalized or targeted and that sentiment quickly disappears.

We've let this sentiment plant and grow it's roots, now with the right of right-wing populism we've encouraged it to finally rear it's ugly head.

It's going to be a long few decades ahead of us.

I leave for a bit and everyone just wanks constantly about doom and gloom of the future and how it's the rights fault. Don't you lot have any self respect or confidence in democratic processes? This isn't some new dark age where Fascists are taking power, so get a grip.

I guess antisemitism, and militant atheists are exempt from the "bad guys" pool though. And god forbid that folks believe in the right to bear arms! Unsurprising. Zionist lobby lol. Did anyone notice what is happening between Corbyn and the British Jews? Clearly not.
