Isn't the whole concept of the SR-72 obsolete?

In what way? The ability to have a recon flight on demand is very useful satellites take time to move into position after all

I think that he meant that hypersonic speed is no longer useful against missiles.

I'd think so with all the satellites in space.

Satellites are still cheaper, more reliable and have a longer staying power, not to mention have a much smaller overall logistical cost over a hypersonic plane (Seriously, the SR-71 was a money sink!).

Not to mention hypersonic speeds no longer protect you from modern AA.

You think launching a satellite is cheaper than a plane?

Do you have any idea how much it costs to move a satellite in orbit especially for a one time target, then you have to move it to its previous position and once it's out of fuel its useless. A plane on the other hand can be retasked with ease.

So don't come here being a cock it will get you nowhere
